    I don’t want to want swap out the head unit on this truck. I like the slow laggy morning starts. I don’t want to change anything on the interface.
    Anyone know if the BOSE 6x9 speakers are swapable from any of the car brands on the market today will fit in the Tacoma? It would have to be not too deep for the door and not too tall that makes contact with the speaker cover on the door trim. when searching some cars online (like the QX60 suv) it shows that the same parts (powerbass OE: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-2y7WW...YDIwjSYCrtHjGz2i9dhS5AD9Ej0QxJ6AaAsIcEALw_wcB)
    will fit the tacoma. I’m assuming the stock BOSE 6x9s that come in the Infiniti suv (which BTW has 17 total speaker FTW?!) should fit in the Tacoma up front with minor wiring and possible mount adjustment.

    I want to swap out the tweeters also.

    These also look nice for anyone looking to upgrade their speakers.

    Might go with them if the Bose are not an option which is most likely. Bose and their certain noise cancellation and speaker setup are my preferred way of sound. Crystal clear to me compared to other brands.
    Any intel is appreciated!

    if youre not getting a new head unit, just get anything thats not stock and it will sound 5 times better then the oem speakers. the oem speakers are like computer speakers from the 80s haha the magnet was the size of a watch battery. if you get a set like bose or higher end speakers youre not going to be able to utilize the full potential of them, the oem headunit simply cant power the better speakers.

    The Subaru/Kicker tweeters are a worthwhile upgrade, well worth the $100 +/-.

    I felt they elevated the system from dreadful to OK.
    Easy & cheap.

    Look at components. Otherwise any two way plus a good tweeter forces you to compensate for the top-heavy tweet volume.

    The kicker KS are a decent set, as are the Focals. I'm running Focal on mine with a key amp.

    Also, spend the extra time to put a bit of sound mat in your doors while you're in there. That improves it every bit as much as the speaker.

    My go-to simple upgrade speakers are the Infinity Kappa's. I recently redid my whole system with high end Focal and JL Audio components, but I recommend the Kappa's to anyone who wants a simple upgrade in both volume and clarity on most platforms. The Kicker Subaru tweeters are also fantastic upgrade for the highs once they break in (they aren't really noticeable for the first 10 or so hours). For a cheap & simple upgrade I'd go Kappa's front and rear and the Kicker tweeters (I don't usually recommend Kicker for anything, but their tweets sound good for this platform and are full pnp). The tweets can be had on Amazon and the best price I've seen on the Kappa's is from Sonic Electronics.

    As others have said, it's also a good time to throw some sound deadening in the doors. My personal favorite is Second Skin, but it's hard to beat the value of Noico if you're budget-conscious.

    I 2nd that. I did that, and added an underseat 8" powered Sub, and it sounds great. Didn't even touch the door speakers....

    I did the Subaru tweeters and kickers in all 4 doors. That’s on a 2019 without JBL. i also soundproofed all 4 doors. It was a worthwhile upgrade for sure.

    Bose speakers are usually 2 ohms, and I highly doubt the factory non amplified system in the Tacoma can handle that impedance per channel.

    Yeah idk how they get so much sound with those tiny magnets. They’re light as a feather! And if the impedance is a lower OHM then it should pull for power from the head unit right? 4 OHM vs 2 OHM. The 2 ohm has less resistance so it should take the full potential coming from the head unit.

    Those look nice.
    Have the kicker 10” 2 ohm with the kicker key 500.1 smart amp.

    Thanks for the input. I’ve been reading that sound dampening does a lot in these trucks.

    Yeah that’s a good point. I think they are 4ohms stock? I could install a 2ohm resister in between as well to make it less crazy.

    Haha anything is better it seems. Just annoying that Toyota puts such a cheap system in these trucks, and then calls it the “Toyota premium sound”… pretty sure the Camry and corolla have the same sound system except they have better dynamics (being lower to the floor where the speakers are). Maybe the Tacoma is like a Jeep where the sound isn’t as good unless it’s directly facing you from a speaker. At least that’s what I got from the loaners from all the warranty drop offs.

    I will check that out! Not sure what’s under the carpet right now. The 22’ Tacoma sounds pretty quiet but I think it’s the tires and shocks.

    The Kickers are brighter and seem to play just a bit louder than the factory tweeters, they raise the sound of the floor.

    In addition to sounding lifeless the factory tweeters looked to be 25 years old when I took them out too. :laugh:

    Did mine today & wanted to share a tip if you didn't know,
    when you upgrade yours you'll remove the triangle panel;

    REMOVE THESE CLIPS FROM THE DOOR;
    1.jpg

    & INSTALL INTO THE PANEL PRIOR TO REINSTALLATION;
    2.jpg

    If not, They will most likely get pushed back & fall behind the door & lost forever

    Most definitely! i put it my 2016 and yes "That improves it every bit as much as the speaker"
    i put the sound mat on the back side of the door card, that door panel vibrates and adding more bass it would have been even worse.

    I did a sub behind the passenger rear seat , new alpine coax speakers in the rear doors , separates in the front , new pioneer radio , 4 channel amp 60 x4 , sub amp 400 watts and it sounds amazing clean and tight. Nothing too crazy just sounds really nice . Worth the extra work .
