I travel limestone and gravel roads that are not always well maintained ( mud, holes), sometimes 10-20 miles or more. I have a 20 Trd offroad 2 wheel drive, rear lockers and clearance more than enough to get through my obstacles. My question is what would be the best shocks for traveling at 45-50 mph hitting holes, as well as a decent ride on road?

Bilstein 6112/5160 would probably be adequate for your needs. Or go balls to the wall and do a long travel kit. Fiberglsss fenders. Do it bro. YOLO

Thanks, I'd like to spend less, 500 range. Do I really need to replace the springs?

If you want a marked improvement on your Bilstein shocks, you'll probably have to spring for some real pricey stuff. Proper coilovers like King, Fox, ADS, etc. There aren't a lot of inexpensive options that will do better than what you have.

For hitting that stuff at speed, Fox 2.5 with Reservoirs. If your budget is 500, then just use the stock suspension. You will not find something that adequately improves your ride on those obstacles at that speed for the price you want. You’ll spend the 500 on something, and then you’ll be bummed it didn’t work out and then spend the money later, or just live with it until you can get the high end kit you should get

Dobinsons seems to be well regarded if you aren’t intending on doing 40mph down those roads for extended periods of time. Going to be slightly above your budget, if I was you I’d wait until I had a bit more money and look into them and some super bumps upfront.

I ended up getting a full Dobinsons setup, but it was well over the $500 budget stated by the OP. That said, I went "whole hog" with new front coils, leaf packs, and shocks all around, which explains the $1600 price tag.

I cannot say anything good or bad about them, since all the parts are still in boxes in my living room. I'll get around to installation one of these days, and definitely will provide feedback once I get some miles on the setup.

    This.

We are constantly tuning Fox and King shocks to perform better and better on small washboard roads. A standard off the shelf shock wont do that great. yes the Fox & King stuff is not cheap... but thats where you will get the best overall ride on those roads and on the street.
