Best Rebuild Kit for a 3.4?

    I finally got around to start tearing down my spare 3.4L. I was told it lost compression in cyl #3 at around 200,000mi. My money's on the headgasket. Anyway, this will be my first rebuild of any motor and I was curious as to which rebuild kit would be best? I figured OEM would be the best, but I saw LC Engineerings rebuild kit and that caught my eye.

    I appreciate all input.

    LC Engineering uses Fel-Pro gaskets so you could do better with OEM I think.

    I just finished my 3rz with a LCE kit and the parts were good quality.

    Good to know. Gaskets and all were up to par? No fitment issues?

    If you're putting the effort in to completely rebuild the whole motor, I'd price out a complete OEM Toyota gasket kit and go with that. If you're just doing head gaskets, you'd be better off buying whatever gaskets you'll need rather than a complete kit.

    I bought a fel pro gasket kit at my local parts store to compare with the Lce kit and I noticed fel pro used a lot of paper gaskets. The lce kit on the other hand used all metal gaskets. Everything is packaged from Safety which pieces together and rebrands. All bearings were made in Japan, timing set has half japan and half Taiwan, new Aisin water pump, oil pump from japan, hasting rings, hyper pistons look good but unknown origin. Gasket kit came with extra gadgets for 8 and 4 port intake mani configurations and timing gaskets for a 2rz but they were metal as opposed to paper fel pros. All in all, amazing quality compared to the fel pro kit from oreillys and don't even think bout eBay as I have one for my 1uz swap and it's complete junk. I got lce kit off craigslist for 180 so I can't complain
