What have you guys purchased for rain guards? I'm looking into getting some but not sure what some quality ones are. Pics would be great too!

I have avs in channel. They're pretty good, they work as well as you would think they do, as long as its not raining sideways it keeps your windows decently dry so you can see in the rain. And if you want your windows down in the rain they keep some of the rain out.

Is a rain guard the same thing as a window deflector?

I have AVS in-channel as well. I bought the external stick on kind, but didn't like they look, so they are just sitting in my garage.

Not sure if quoting from a different thread works, BUT....

These are on my truck, AVS in-channel low profiles. Love them and they help tremendously to keep the truck cooler here in Florida. Haven't had any rain enter the lowered window with these installed.

I got the weathertechs and managed to break off some of the plastic into my door when trying to get them to work without the window going down automatically. Ended up getting the AVS in channel rain guards. After about 3 weeks in the TN heat they close perfectly every time. But they would only close intermittently before 3 weeks.

Probably a dumb question, but has anyone had any issues with the in-channels scratching tint or causing it to peel at the edge? It's entirely possible that I simply don't understand how these are installed, so this might be an irrelevant concern.

No problems at all. I have 25% tint on my driver and passenger side doors and have no peeling of tint at all.

The in Channels are contact the outside of the glass, tint is on the inside. The rubber seals should be able to rub the tint without removing it since it pinches it a little bit more.

Due to the rainguard being on the opposite side of the glass as the tint there should be no contact between the two. The only problem that MIGHT arise depending on the product you purchase is the added tension between the glass and the inner window track at the top but if the tint was install good then it shouldn't cause any issues at all.

Tint is applied on the inside of your door glass. The outside of the door glass is what comes into contact with the in-channel deflector. It would be impossible for the deflector to touch the tint.

    Something to note:

The AVS in-channel low profile window vents attach via a strip of adhesive to the outer most inner seal of the window. They are very secure but can't comment on how well they remove without damage to the seal if you ever needed to take them off. Material is thinner and more flexible. Looks as though they are more injection molded type of manufacturing. I own these and love them.

The weathertech in-channel window vents attach (only have experience with these on three other make vehicles) via pressure and tension only, no adhesive (usually). They can be a bear to install at times but hold very securely in place. They are a bit thicker and rigid. They give the impression of an acrylic heat formed, then machine to finished specs type of manufacturing.

Both are great products, can't comment on the actual Weathertechs for Tacomas though.

When looking for mine I wanted a couple things:
    1: good quality
    B: inchannel
III: flush with vehicle (no poke)
    5-1: relatively good price

It lead me to buy EGR inchannels

Had the low profile avs they felt cheap and returned them before I even put them on.

Was going to get the weathertechs but hated how big the channels were in the corner almost blocking the side view mirrors. They don’t use any tape in the front just the rears. To me it’s just made sense and also about half the price of weathertech ones to boot!

Had AVS on my 2001. Eventually the adhesive will fail and they just free-ball in the channel, but did stay in place.

Have WeatherTechs now on the 2015 and they are holding up just fine with pressure only.

I have AVS in channel and I also had the paint matched. I haven't had any issues.

Oh god I can attest weathertechs aren't moving, ever. Hurricane could come and those wouldn't vibrate, they are held in place strong. Gotta brute force those bad boys in but definitely aren't going anywhere after that.

The AVS were already on my truck when I bought it but I kinda prefer them over weathertechs due to the solid black and low profile. They are two completely differently materials though, each have own pros and cons I think.
