Forgetting about road noise, mile warranty, weight, stiffness etc, what is the best Offroad tire in 255/85/16 or 265/75/16?

Im talking about the tire you're gonna beat up against rocks, mud ruts, drive on sand, over curbs, maybe a pedestrian here and there, and will still make it home on the freeway (that means no swampers).

There is no tire that is best for everything. The best mud tire isn't going to be the best sand tire. Decide what is more important to you and pick any E rated tire that you like. There are a lot of contenders. I'd see what I could get the best price on.

No tire is best both on and off road.
A Michelin is best on road. A Patagonia is best off road.

Well that's why I asked for the best Offroad tire, that can still drive you back home.

On my rock crawler Jeeps I had good luck with Interco Super Swampers . The soft rubber compound once heated up stuck to rocks like glue !!

I agree with the Michelin. I run them on my cars and my tow rigs.

What do you mean by "best off road tire"?

That's a very vague question. Durability? Traction in mud? Wet traction? Comfort over rough roads?

More choices in 265. You're limited to like 4 tires in 255.

Well, everyone knows that hands down the best damn tire on the entire planet is the one that you just bought! Trust me, it works! :)

    Work in progress...
Ya, out here in the desert, if you're running in the sharp rocks etc, you want a E rated AT. If you're cutting through Missouri Mud then you want a MT. If your ice fishing in Minnesota then you probably want something with spikes. Do they still make ice tires? If you're looking for all around off road tires it really depends on where you are planning on running all around. Are you looking for the best Brand, type, or what? Off Road, man there is all kind of places Off Road. Maybe in Hawaii you may want to cross some lava rocks? What kind of tire is best for that? I don't know...I just don't know. Along with climate comes temperature. What works great at 115 degrees, out where I live, probably would be terrible up in Alaska in the winter time. Maybe you are just going off the road. A little trip down a well beaten path. Probably some LT's would be the best "Off Road" tires for that excursion. Provided you are going down that path on a particular day. Maybe it's raining the day you decide to explore that trail. Now we got to get back home on the slippery pavement. Who is doing what? Where are they doing it? When, Winter vs Summer, Ya got too many variables to even imagine. I could go on but anyway.
