Looking for a good solution for jack for wheel swaps etc. Don't really want a Hi-lift jack, would prefer the more traditional style aluminum race jack.

I saw that proeagle makes a nice offroad jack, but its pretty expensive for a slightly modified aluminum jack that is normally bought for $100 anywhere else.

It looks like a few people make sleds for the usual aluminum race jacks to work well in dirt, but most of them top out around 18" of lift which isn't quite enough for a big lift and lots of droop.

    Any suggestions?

Depends on how much money you want to spend, how much space you have, and if you want a one trick pony or not.

Floor jacks are fast and easy, buy don't work in all terrains, are hard to store (big) and even the alu ones are heavy, and don't always lift high enough. They also require a fairly large flat surface to jack from.

Then there are bottle jacks. Cheap, small, easy to use, and you can increase lifting height with (rather pricey) accessories (https://safejacks.com/collections/bottle-jack-accessories), but can be unstable and really only useful for jacking.

Then there are the exhaust bags like ARB's X-jack. Cool, but useless if your motor won't start, or if you're bogged in frame deep mud.

And finally we have hi-lift style jacks. They can certainly be dangerous, but so is anything that is mishandled. It's also more than just a jack. YOu can winch with it and pry things open with it, and even squeeze things together with it.

But if you want a decent alu floor jack, just go to harbor freight.

Thanks, I think I am going to go with an aluminum floor jack (harbor freight special) and add the following:

    Homemade skid plate to bottom
Add the Pro Eagle Jack pad extension

This should give me more than enough lift and I think will be less sketchy than a bottle jack.

I figure most people use an air jack or the hi-lift. I started this as there appear to be some other good options if you are okay with the bulk of a shop jack.

Some very cool jacks made by Proeagle.com, but you can build something equally as functional for far less.
