I hit a deer and messed up my bumper on my new TRD off-road Tacoma. I was looking for a basic hidden winch mount since my bumper will be off for repairs. I like the reviews that the Smittybilt x20 gen2 has and the price seems fair. I don't do a lot of off-roading yet but I've been wanting a winch ever since I purchased my truck.

Is the CBI Winch mount a good choice?

Should I wait until Black Friday to buy the winch and mount?

Thank you in advance this forum is great.

i didn't think cbi made a hidden winch mount anymore.

sdhq is the one i've selected simply for the built-in recovery points. all the other options don't include them.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
You should check out Greenlane off-road, they make a strong aluminum one, light weight 45 lbs approx with recovery points, it’s priced in cdn $ so don’t freak out at the price haha also has the wings kit in case you need to make more room for bigger tires.

I’ve got a recovery point from the factory since it is a TRD off-road. I saw a bulldog brand winch mount on Amazon for around $300.

The SHHQ mount seems really popular here. I thought there might be a better option since I wasn’t planning on getting a Warn winch.

The deer really messed up my truck. I think the crash bar saved the radiator.

i'll be installing a badlands winch in the sdhq once i get it.

the winch mounting plate is going to be industry-standard for the main winch point. it's mostly the control box relocation-- that's going to be warn-specific, but anyone with a grinder and some drill bits ought to be able to alter it to make it work for other remote-mount control box units.
