Any recommendations for headlight replacements for my 2006 Tacoma Pre-Runner Quad Cab would be appreciated. My lenses are fogged and beyond cleaning

It all depends on what you're looking for your headlights to accomplish. If you're looking for something that "looks cool," I'm out.

If, however you're looking for something that actually performs, OEM is absolutely the only way to go. The first few pages of following thread will give you a pretty well-defined path to take. You don't have to get the high performance / higher wattage bulbs and the heavy-duty harness if you don't want, but the housings are the key to success.

The ultimate headlight upgrade H4 (not LED or HID) | Tacoma World

If you're short on coin and / or you don't really care as much about performance, there are a number of aftermarket housings that look like OEM, but don't perform quite as well. Look for something that is "CAPA Certified" if you can. That certification means the product has been deemed by insurance companies to be good enough to replace OEM when they're footing the bill. (Yes, you should feel like you're about to get boned.) Although the performance is definitely not up to OEM standards, they're the next best thing.

I just installed a set of Capa certified Depo headlights from Rock Auto. They fit and look just like the originals and they were adjusted perfectly right out of the box. Total for both lights was just over $200.

I’ve heard a lot of bad things about people buying headlights on Amazon. If I were you I would purchase directly from the manufactures

I got a set of Eagle Eye (IIRC) off Amazon. Looked fine, worked OK, 2 weeks later one had at least a cup of water inside. The light pattern wasn't as uniform as my old OEMs either. So I say bite the bullet and go with OEM. I refinished my OEM with the clearcoat method and they are much better but at some point I may get a new set of OEM. I am also running the forum "ultimate headlight upgrade" with separate harness and higher wattage bulbs.

I had "fogged" headlights on my '06. Priced OEMs, about soiled myself.

Anyhow, I invested in the Sylvania Headlight Restore kit from Amazon. Follow the directions to the letter. The fog is gone, headlights are crystal clear, night illumination is back.....all for about $20 spend and 1 hour of my time.

OEM headlights are about $400. I figured a $20 spend is worth the gamble to save $400.

If you go Amazon or other online around $100-$125/set or so gets you a set that looks stock and works fine but you will need to seal around the entire lenses at the seal with a good quality silicon glue and seal after cleaning off any manufacturing residue. Read reviews first. If you have a later gen2 with DRL and they have burned lenses inside that requires new headlights. The external cleaner kits work OK but if severe then sanding and polishing works OK. Check if new online ones come with new main bulbs as some do some don't but usually only a cheap standard bulb anyway. A 4000-6000k color gets you whiter light. My cheap replacements get scratched out west by pushing thru brush on trails so have to sand every once in awhile anyway. OEM is way to go for no problems only cost.
