I’m looking into buying long tube headers for my truck.(S/C 4.0) Trying to choose between Dough Thorley, JBL and URD headers. I would like to make some more power but care a lot more about the sound anyone have an opinion on which one sounds best?

You really won’t get either from headers. They might add a few hp but it will be very few. Certainly nothing worth the cost. Then you have the curse of the V6 engine. It will never sound good. The timing, the cylinder size, the rotational degree. None of those lead to an aggressive rumble. All three brands you mention are well known brands. I would go with the URD or Thorley... if I really wanted to toss money out the window.

Urd equal length spec u headers coupled with hptuners. Also purchase the equal length Y pipe, a member on here makes them.

Combined with a Cai, 3* camshaft gears, intake manifold spacer (NOT throttle body spacer), you will be very happy.

True, tacomas dont make much power and you will "toss" money out the window with just bolt ons. This can all be alleviated with the proper tune.

Seems to be a fine delineation between budget/minimal maintenance TW users and balls to the wall/hate money TW members :D

Yeah I already have the URD Spec U Exhaust and CAI.
Not trying to get any more big gains but I’m sure doing cam gears, headers, and a tune would give me some noticeable power without breaking the bank lol

I’ll have to take a loot at manifold spacers I had been looking at doing the other three things you had mentions but hadn’t heard of manifold spacer before.

I was also looking into making my V6 sound more aggressive but after reading this seems like it’ll take a lot more than just a couple bucks.

Doug Thorley headers are pretty good.
