Hey I am wondering what the best head gasket, and other engine gaskets are for my 2rz? I found an OEM Head Gasket but its $70. I have heard good things about FelPro?? Kinda a tight budget on this one, but dont want to cheap out too much and have to redo stuff.

    Thanks

FelPro is the worst you can buy. The amount of labor involved would have me buying only OEM. Do your valve cover gaskets and intakes as well.

Why is fel pro the worst? I also only hear good things about them and have used their baskets on a number or projects for my tacoma and my lady’s tj wrangler.

I've spent a lot of time in an auto machine shop doing anything from rebuilds and blown head gaskets to full on custom engine builds. FelPro has been used a lot. I'd recommended them.

Let me rephrase. They are more likely not as good as OEM. I am not a OEM only guy but when it comes to repairs requiring more labor cost than parts cost I prefer to go OEM. Good Luck!

It's less Tacoma and more mod
After doing mine, just go OEM for head gasket, FelPro is more than fine for everything else. But the OEM on mine lasted over 180K so it stands to reason it is a safe bet to go again.

Ok, thanks I will look for an OEM head gasket and go fel-pro on the rest.

There are places where you can use an aftermarket gasket and places where you cant. OEM 3.4 upper and lower intakes are metal, aftermarket "might" be metal, might be fiber, might be fiber impressed metal depends on who makes them. Fiber only will "suck through" after a while so OEM only in THAT application.
I was taught a saying whn I was younger and it seems to apply to everything in life... Quality is long remembered soon after price is forgot. The $3 you saved on a gasket/set is nothing compared to having to do the job again because of a gasket failure.
