What's up yall. Just got a brand new tacoma and I'm also new to trucks in general. I'm looking to put an exhaust in the future. What are you guys running or recommend?

I was looking for something moderately priced and sounds good/loud but not obnoxious. I was looking at MBRP (black coated)

Welcome to the forum :hattip:and congratulations on the new truck!

There is nothing you can do to these small V6 engines to make them sound like a V8. Drone at cruise seems to be the biggest complaint folks have with the aftermarket exhaust.

We have had lots of discussions about this, some folks have linked sound clips too.

In the upper right of the page type "cat back" in the search box, be sure to check the "search titles only" box it will give better results. Note there is a "search" button and a ""google search" one, the plain one searches this site only and works better. (IMO)

Personally my loud muffler days are about 35 years past so I like the stock system. ;)

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    TRD Performance Exhaust.
Had it on my '06 TRD OR AC MT. At 15 years it was still going strong.
I opted for it on my '21 TRD OR AC AT. Somewhat for the sound (it'll sound off when you push the skinny pedal to the floor) but mostly for the durability as it's all stainless steel. Drone at freeway speed is there but not annoying. JMHO.

Watch youtube videos before you commit. I don't even like how the trd exhaust sounds on the pro.

Ever hear a loud truck going down the road. Slow & gutless, but loud as fuck. What an embarrassment!

Appreciate your guys' advice! I'm definitely past the obnoxious db level phase, but would still like to have something that just sounds nicer than average. I understand it won't have any V8 character. Just want it to have SOME character for a decent price point. I'm definitely someone who would pay for quality and reliability, and I don't think the MBRP was the best option for that approach lol

TRD exhaust! Built really well all stainless steel and tuned for your truck. Sounds great too.

    :hattip:

Borla S Type and TRD Catback will be the mildest ones. MBRP, Carven on the loudest end of the spectrum. I wouldn't want anything louder than my TRD. It's got a very throaty grunt when accelerating and starting, but mellows back out to almost stock when cruising or at freeway speeds. This is something you'll really want to think about for road trips or longer commutes. I've also noticed the truck accelerates much better and doesn't hunt for gears like it did with the stock exhaust. Toyota really did their homework on this system. Using a K&N drop in filter too.
