Hey guys, I just wanted make a thread about exhausts for the V6 3rd Gen Tacomas. I just recently purchased and installed the Flowmaster Outlaw Extreme catback on my 2021 TRD Sport. I made a YouTube video of the install & review of the exhaust system. Let me know what your thoughts are :)

    Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCYyRvn_RvQ

I am interested as well. It seems that the general opinion is that the TRD exhaust is the best. Others cause a lot of droning or sound like you are driving a civic lol

The thread nobody asked for but we got anyway :p

If I could I would get the TRD exhaust. Other than noise though, there’s no additional benefits for spending more cash on some metal tubing.

Ran a similar aftermarket set up on my '06 with duals out the back. Not quite as loud and no droning but it still sounded like a mosquito on steroids at open throttle. Have never heard an exhaust note I liked from either the 4.0 liter or 3.5 liter V-6. Saving my $ and sticking with my factory exhaust system on my '16.

Stock. A V6 truck will just never sound like a truck. You can totally get a “good sounding” exhaust but it will still sound like a ricer to anyone with ears.

Name brand is best. Borla is my choice on all vehicles. I would never do a V6 truck though. Spend the cash on other things.

That idle burble is really nice. Reminds me of my MBRP I had on my v6. The only problem I have with a catback on these trucks is that when the motor does the variable valve timing switch over at high RPM it sounds like a dirtbike.

I just bought and installed a magnaflow overland exhaust and I love it. Doesn't sound like a ricer, is barely louder than stock with a great tone. And more power, I need to downshift less on hills after my intake/exhaust upgrade.

Up until this exhaust came out a few months ago I would agree with all the aftermarket exhaust hate here, however Magnaflow has actually given a lot of us what we want with their overland series of exhaust.

I said stock forever, now I have a Magnaflow Overland Series. It is amazing! A bit throaty when you want it to be, but otherwise almost a stock sound

There’s gotta be 20 threads on this already. Seems like the same topics are rotated weekly. Will this exhaust fit with 33s and no cmc. Which wheels, offset exhaust smell will work with my setup. Fml

if you ask me...sounds like a kids honda with a fart can. What a waste of money.
I had a flow master dual exhaust on my 2001 tundra 4.7 that included the 2 flow master cats going into the resonator then two separate flow master exhaust mufflers, and tail pipe's. This system noticeably made a bit more power above 2500 rpm, and sounded slightly louder than stock when on it. Hate to say, but v6 trucks sound like chit, and sound worse when they are made louder....no sub for the sound of a v8.

I have MBRP cat back was S&B CAI. It is obnoxiously loud at full throttle and has a drone, but I love it.

Each his own. My bull bar and chrome trim on the inside is also bas ass.

It gets needlessly repetitive in the third gen forum.
They need to make the search bar a giant glowing neon sign at the top of the web page

Best is subjective but for me the TRD is a nice smooth deep sounding and I think it's best for me. My son runs a flowmaster 50 series welded in, now that sounds pretty damn good, no drone or obnoxious sounding. Nice and deep rumble. I think the stock muffler sounded cheap!!!
