Have a 2017 SR5 v6 4x4 that does some light towing with a Jayco Hummingbird that is around 3000lbs. I am wanting to be able to monitor a few things, with tranny fluid temp being the most important to me. Anyone have a suggestion? I have an Edge CTS monitor in my Duramax that I like, but I think I remember reading that they do not work well in Toyota.

I like my ultragauge. Scangauge is another option. Both plug into the OBDII port and provide real time data on whichever gauges you pick. The only tricky one is trans temp as you have to program the unit to read the temps.

Ultraguage works okay. If u wanna go cheap, just use a Bluetooth OBD2 and your phone.

Thanks! How difficult is it to "program" it for tranny temp?

I couldn't tell you, I haven't done it. But I believe it's just inputting some numbers into some settings on the unit.

Anyone know if the Scangauge 2 can be programed to read tranny temp? I like how compact it is.

It has two trans codes TF1 (@ pan) and TF2 (@ torque converter).

For matching the 3rd gen blue, I like Red: 1, Green: 1, Blue: 2

Can either one be programmed to give correct MPH after tire size and gear change?

The scan gauge can, I don’t know about the ultra gauge. But it’s only displayed on the scangauge. I found it pretty useless and corrected the trucks speedometer with an inline corrector.

It's probably easier to use the GPS on your phone, but there is a way to adjust it with the scanguage.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Definitely not Simon Pegg as Scotty... wandering around the engine room like an idiot. He was a terrible engine monitor.

Scanguage gets my vote, xguage codes for almost everything. I run Trans Temp, Coolant temp, and oil temp while towing, and then mileage the rest of the time. It will scan and clear codes as well if you need to.

This is it mounted in our old 2nd gen,
    [IMG]

Now it's mounted the same in the 3rd gen.

Nice! I've had one for over 15 years and the only thing that went wrong is a couple dead pixels. I sent it a few years back for an update and asked them to replace the screen which they did for free. It has worked in number of vehicles using different communication protocols.

With XGauges you can get both the trans pan and converter temperatures, adjust speed offset, engine oil/coolant temp, fuel level (%of tank), real-time mpg (that uses and calibrates based off of each fill up) and lots of other fun stuff. If you like getting data from your vehicle, you'll like SG. I have mine mounted in the upper-right above vent and all wires tucked behind the door seal.

I've had an ultra guage in every vehicle I've had for years. For an AT get the MX as it can use the PIM for the trans temp sensor.

The ultra guage can as well.
