    GAHHH!!
haha soo many opinions!...but i really appreciate it!

unfortunately i wont be able to get one as soon as i had hoped now because my clutch is going out i think and i was called today by my Extended Service Coverage provider (Kornerstone) and they told e that if it is the clutch it wont be covered

so now im prolly going to have to shell out for a new clutch on a truck that ive had for less than 5 months...grrrr

haha...i know the place...i got a badass fake i.d. from there 2 years back...it worked at every gas station, club, and small liquor store i went to!!...until i went to Specs and they tried to swipe it...i walked out of there REAL fast haha

i work in a woodshop and use my cordless constantly. ive been through at least a half dozen over the years. bought the makita drill/impact set last year and i love it. quick charge time, light and lots of power. rated the best by fine woodworking magazine. great set imo. if you use your drill alot dont cheep out...spend a few extra bucks and get a good drill, you wont be dissapointed..

i own a dewalt 18 v xrp 6 piece kit (hammer drill/impact gun/skill saw/ recip saw/grinder/flashlight). in just over a year of owning it, i have gone through 6 batteries! i absolutely hate the dewalt kit and have been trying to sell it. what drives me nuts with it is i can be using my impact gun driving in 3 inch number 8 screws for decking and i will burn through 4 battery packs while my boss' 18v milwaukee li ion impact will only use one battery.

in less then a year, the clutch blew to pieces in my drill, the switch in my impact gun failed and it took dewalt 6 weeks to repair the damn things. i will never buy dewalt cordless tools. milwaukee and bosch will have all of my money now when i buy tools

Just picked up the Makita 2 pc. compact cordless combo kit this weekend. So far I love it. 1/2 inch drill only weighs 3.5 lbs and the impact only weighs 2.8 lbs. The batteries are more compact than previous lithium ion's. They both seem to have a lot of torque.
No hammer drill. Both have l.e.d. lights. 15 min charge time.
    Part # LCT200
Picked them up for $350 Canadian.

I am a woodworker and use a makita 14.4 NiCad everyday and love both the impact drill and the regular drill. My next purchase of a cordless will be a Festool cordless, best tool manufacturer out there, you will pay more but i have always believed in buy nice, not twice

Milwaulkee has a setup exactly like this. It comes with a drill and an impact driver. Both are 18V Lithium Ion and are super small. Just like the Makita they have LED lights as well.

I just buy the cheap ones that Costco sells. 2 batteries a charger & a carrying case for $30. If & when it wears out, just go buy another one. I had an expensive one long ago, but replacement batteries were $50+,Forget that! I am on my 2nd cheap one in 8 years or so.

i agree on the rigids.... a few #10 3 1/2" screws will kill the battery in no time....and they struggle to do it

I have one of these, freaking tough drill (two years replaced the brushes once)

Being in the business with my father he swears by Milwaukee and Makita. You cant go wrong with either.

We each have a full set of tools for each of our trucks. One set of Milwaukee in his truck and i had Makita in mine. both tool companies are awesome.

Makita and milwaukee are top of the line at a reasonable price. You will pay the same amount for either Makita or Milwaukee Li-ion or dewault with old ass technology NiCd batteries that die real quick and take forever to charge and dont hold a charge. If you dont use the dewault with nicds for a few days the batteries will be dead next time you try to use it. the drill will last a long time and are durable strong drills. I like the milwaukee impact drivers better than makita but makitas hammer drills feel better and dont vibe as much through the handle. Oh and i left my drill in the garage all winter last year (in NY) and in the spring i had enough battery life install a flat screen tv mount. if it was a nicd dewault the battery would need replacing after being frozen.

Since then i moved to Cali and no long do full time construction. I bought a really nice milwaukee set to have around. it was the drill (non-hammer) and an impact driver for $300 at HDepot good deal!!

If you only occasionally drill in masonry/concrete a regular drill will do fine just takes a little longer... sorry for the book

Im sorry, but I cant stand dewalts. uncomfortable, retarded chuck/clutch action, bulky as hell and ugly. I use a Hitachi 14.4 v,and I abuse it daily for my job, not just every other weekend. Its comfy and small but powerful. High gear is super fast and still torque-y. I once dropped it 20 feet off the tail of an airplane, it hit the concrete and broke in half. I epoxied it back together and it still works fine today.

Hitachi is pretty good but their hammer drill blows!! I dropped my Makita off a 32ft. ladder and it hit concrete and it didntbreak at all. the battery spit out like a watermelon seed but it was fine from the fall too.

ok all those are ok, but i'm a carpenter and i've had or used the dewalt, bosch, makita, etc.. and the one that i'm running is the hitachi DV18DL 18V 3.0Ah Lithium Ion Cordless Hammer Drill. i crap beat the out of this thing day in and day out ( ive even used it to drill 4" holes with a whole saw). now i'm not saying that the other ones are bad but in my experience this is the only one to hold up to the abuse, plus they have crazy good warranties. check them out

I'm a hvac contractor and i use my drill everyday to drill into everything imaginable. I started off with dewalt, and they take a pretty good beating. My cordless sawzal is still dewalt. I've also used mikita and ridge. However I've sense switched to Milwaulkee. Nothing beats there power and durability as far as cordless drills go imo. I will say that i find if you buy it from homedepot or lowes the tools didnt last as long because they cut back on quality to make money in some cases (plastic gears etc). If you can try to buy it from a industrial supply house like grainger's etc. it makes a world of difference.
