    Hey I’ve got the 6” bds spacer lift and would like to upgrade to coilovers already. I’ve currently got the spacer ontop of bilstein 5100s set on the first setting. Who makes the best coilovers? Should I stick with the fox coilovers that bds offers?

    depends what you want but Fox, King I know will make an extended version for a 6" lift. If Fox offers it then they spec'd it for that lift. Should be solid

    King makes the best, Fox is second best, that's the general opinion.

    I would DEFINITELY get rid of that spacer lift, especially on top of 5100's spacers are BAD for your ball joints they put really hard forces on them, especially a 6"! :eek:

    Don't have the time to dedicate to reading that im depth right now but skimming it I can already tell those guys know their stuff and did see some interesting differences I wasn't aware of.

    I suppose it's as fair a comparison as you can get although both brands make higher and lower duty/quality/style shocks so definitely good to know exactly what you're buying.

    As for hardness I'd be inclined to say a slightly softer rod is better as it will bend before is shears which os better IMHO for a shock.

    I know Fox and King are always close to each other but King seems to be favored here on TW and I recall some long winded thread about Fox management doing something shady (or maybe it was just him being a rich elitist asshole I don't recall) but I don't know the particulars thought it did set a stigma in my mind against Fox products.

    I plan to get Kings but I'm going to look at the fox options now, that overbuilt seal wiper design I like.

    @whatstcp

    Do you have either Kings or Fox shocks?

    Looking at going on a hard core wheeling trip and I can't get Kings before then but I can get the Fox equivalent, about $300 more though, now it might be worth it.

    I wonder though, when ordering Kings you can get the stronger 700lb springs and as I'm rolling heavy 5200lbs "unloaded" and I have an ARB with a winch up front I would like the stiffer springs, I also just like a firm planted front end but the Fox don't show any options?

    5100's with 887's on knotch 2 to get that stiff turn in right now.

    Oh neat.

    Gotcha! Like TCP-IP settings? You study computer science?

    Also from doing a little research looks like unless you special order from Accutune all fox 2.5 bodies come with 600lbs Eibach coils, for my set up it's recommended to get 650lbs coils, but will probably need 700lbs eventually, I could run 600 in the mean time but would need to put a lot of preload on them and plan for the upgrade later.

    That’s how it is with fox and king just need to ask and like @whatstcp said some charge some done and varies. When I got mine they put 650’s on for free (low range before trail gear). You can always swap them out later too
