2023 Taco looking for best placement of gun magnet that is not in line of site (Texas must not be in line of site).
Just installed Lock’erDown console safe. It is great!
Included with safe was this magnet.

I am guessing the magnet was supplied to use inside the safe to hold the gun but would rather use in the cab where a second puts it in my hand. Takes a bit to open the safe.

    Oh look, another mod....

Wrong. It can be in line of site, if it is in a holster.

yes. Understand holsters. Looking for place to attach on magnet when driving so easy to get and not in line of site.

    Mount it:

    Under the seat.
On the drivers side door (get a molle panel for the door and put the magnet on it).
Under the dash or in the footwell.

If the place to stow is not "bolted to my hands at all times," then it's the incorrect place to stow.

If you belong to any gun forums, I would post this question there. You’ll get more helpful answers without all the bullshit opinions of the “guns are scary” crowd. I thought of somehow attaching a left handed holster to the left side of the center console. That would put it about knee level. May not be hidden enough for you in that location though.

If people hate Toyota drivers that much in Texas put the gun money towards buying a Dodge, Ford or Chevy.

If you’re right handed, under put it near your right knee.

How about in its holster, properly attached to your belt. It's always there close by. No fumbling with in when you get in, or out of the vehicle.

Having experience in this area having a weapon digging into your side or appendix for a 1000 mile drive is not fun. I use the Desert Dose It front seat jackers with the multi mount panel. I then bolt a Kydex holster to the front right (I’m right handed) with the butt facing me. Very secure with easy access plus when I get out I can unbuckle and easily slide my weapon back into my side holster with no issues. Been doing this for 2 years no issues and my weapon has never jumped out and ran around the inside of the truck yet.

Open the sunroof and appendix carry while you drive.

I had a boss like this once. I kept asking whether option A or option B was the right response for some issue I was having. “Boss,” said Young Malvolio, “what’s the best response? He kept repeating something like “Is there a best response?” With a smirk.

Not all convos were half-baked philosophy blurbs. He was kinda senile and eventually got fired too.

Anyhoo, don’t get me wrong. Magnets are super cool! But maybe the….maybe the best way to stow a gun in a Tacoma using a magnet is to not stow a gun in a Tacoma using a magnet.

Guns are cool too. I'm actually cool with guns. But unholstered guns in the car? Yeah that's a three beer and face to face conversation to have someday.

My every day, all-day, everywhere carry is a Ruger LCP .380 in an inside waistband holster. Hardly know it's there because it's so lightweight.

On longer trips I simply clip it on one of those cheap Amazon slide in seat pockets. Anytime I leave the truck the pistol goes with me.
