I just got a 22 Double cab Long bed, finally upgraded from my 2006 single cab and I am looking to do all the things to this guy. My next move is going to be a bumper and winch. Any suggestions for websites, please send em my way, I am having trouble finding a good source locally. If you have a pic of yours and where you got it, please feel free to send those my way as well.

Thanks for all the help, love this community.

Put a 2” front receiver on.
    Mount winch on 2” bar.
Now you can affix it front or back or in a case out of elements as needed.

"Best" is going to be subjective. people will probably have the following questions: Full bumper, partial bumper, hidden winch plate in stock bumper? Plate or tube? Aluminum or steel? How large of a winch do you want/need? Do you have already installed or plan to add a lift for compensating the weight up front in your suspension at all?

    Welcome to Tacomaworld!

Everyone you ask or seek input from will likely be a little biased towards their own setup, not sure if you'll find a true consensus as to who makes the best bumper and winch and not sure it really matters. Those are honestly two different topics that both encompass a lot of variables.

Whatever ascetically looks best to you an fits your budget is the best option IMO.

If you look around there's a few threads for bumper options/discussions so you can get an idea/inspiration from others builds.

I like the CBI Stealth Bumper but cannot recommend the add-on Bull Bar. Install wasn't necessarily easy, but it was as expected for that style of bumper. They beat the time estimate by a few weeks, which was a nice Suprise. Price was high, but you expect that from CBI.

What I didn't expect from CBI was the quality of the Bull Bar. I've attached images of the cuts.

is there a retailer of something like this that you know of? or custom only?

and OP i think the 4wp bumper is the nicest looking stealth one:

Curt makes a bolt on front receiver.
Warn makes the 2” mounting plate.

You can wire it several ways:
Clamp on, simple and works on any vehicle with a receiver.

One receptacle connection either front, mid, back. Mid can be interior to keep it clean and balance the voltage drop distance to the battery. Front is typical with an extension cable for rear.

Two receptacles front and rear. Rear is prone to dirt.

I appreciate that. I did look at curts but unfortunately the stunted approach angle defeats the purpose of making truck better off-road in my opinion...

I hit shit all the time because I go too fast, ignore things I should be watching out for and haven’t died yet. Usually I get just get stuck in mud and hand my gigantic recovery strap over to a buddy and say “don’t be a wuss”. I use my winch mostly to pull out my dock.

I’m having the bamf hybrid bumper installed on Friday with a smittybuilt winch. From pictures I’ve seen online, I like it. Once I get my vehicle back I’ll post a picture of it.

You definitely should go with the two inch receiver option, most recoveries in bad spots, you want to reverse out not go deeper in. I have a front receiver and winch wires to the front and rear hitches, plus if someone is stuck behind you, you don't need to turn around to winch them out.

So, what I am looking for is the Hidden winch plate on the stock bumper or the partial style, wouldn't mind a small bull bar.
I do want the Plate style.
Alum preferred to save weight, but price might beat that out.
I already have a lift and suspension upgrade to compensate.
I have never used a winch in the past but I've also never had 4x4 of my own, driven plenty of other peoples in hairy shit, but never my own.

I truly appreciate all the feed back. Main reason I'm trying to save weight is that my truck already AVGs 14 MPG and I live in California, Gas is super cool here right now!!!
