I think OEM is a perfect combo.

I used Powerstop kits on the 4Runner I just traded in on my Tacoma as well as my daily driver Mazda3.

    Stock and staying that way
    Agreed.

I have 64k miles on my stock brakes, with lots of pad left on the front.

At nearly 11k miles the oem brakes on this truck appear fine...very little pad wear if any. It was another story with my 2001 tundra where i had to do something. Imo, if your warping rotors and eating pads in less than 25k miles, i found going to drilled and slotted rotors a better option while still using the stock toyota pads.

I'm using the stop tech with 2nd gen trd pads. After the brake in, they perform better than stock oem brakes, without upgrading calipers and larger rotors for "Big Brake Upgrade".

I found the stock ceramic pads very good on the tundra once i got the EBC rotors. Some pads made with carbon fiber, you have put a lot of heat in them for them first to work well.

Thanks for the Akebono link. I really enjoyed those pads on the 2005 Lexus IS300 as they were OEM. Driven the vehicle very hard, yet never experienced brake fade.
I will swap to them once the taco maintenance time comes.

Well whatever you do, never mix dot 5 brake fluid with dot 3 or 4.
