Did a quick search looking for more info about axes and shovels. Nothing really concise here on the forums, so I decided to start a thread

Post up your recommendations and products in action!

you could buy a $25 shovel and cut some teeth it in, paint it red, give me $100 and still save money and have a better product

Anyways, my TWSS got me the rino foldable survival tool and it feels solid af. Aslong as you aint using the pick side to break large rocks or trying to dig a tunnel to break el chapo out it should be all you really need and more.

I looked at the the small Craftsman shovel. Didn’t seem bad for the 10 or 15 bucks or whatever it was. Not that I’m trying to cheap be cheap or anything like that. Looking at all options for me and the greater public. I like it.

I got one of these from Nupla. They have fiberglass handles and are supposedly much stronger than wood and resistant to the elements. I carry a short D handle model.

I don't actually carry an ax but I have a Ka-Bar machete in the storage box under the back seat of my access cab. I also carry a big 36" pry bar for whatever reason.

Only on TW would someone ask for recommendations of a shovel and axe and pics of them in use.

“This is me digging a hole in Moab, with a shovel. Had to use my axe to bust some roots first about 6” below where this pic was taken.”

Holy shit, buy whatever you want. They all move dirt and cut stuff by design.

    More than I can afford
I have had one of these for about 20 years.
My only complaints are the axe head sometimes gets in the way when you are using it as a shovel, hoe or pick (kind of annoying if pulling dirt out from under your truck) and that the handle is a bit short for a shovel.
But it is a handy tool to own and mine lives full time in my truck. I do grab a random shovel from the shed if I know I am going somewhere where I might need it tho.
