I am looking into getting some AT tires....is there a consensus on which one (out of the usual suspects - Falken Wild Peaks, Nitto Terra Grapplers, BFG K02, etc..) is generally best in the rain?

I live in Florida and we get some heavy rains in the summer, so rain traction is important.

    Thanks.

Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 and the Michelin LTX AT2 have excellent wet road ratings. I will be going to one of those when I replace my crappy Toyo A30s, and I live in Florida also :)

My General Grabber ATX’s have been amazing in the rain. 1000% better on wet pavement than the stock Toyo’s that came on my truck.

On a recent road trip, our last leg (about 300 miles) was done in heavy rain because of the hurricane that was moving out. I was able to safely cruise around 65mph the whole time. I’ve never experienced any hydroplaning with these tires. I’ve been running them for about 15K miles now.

Go to the Tire Racks website and you can see raw data, stopping distance, lap times etc. They test and rate all the tires they sell, plus customer reviews are helpful.

My Hankook AT RF11 have been pretty good with sudden stopping. Rounding corners and gettin on the throttle (when wet)…not as much

My experience on my Tacoma: I currently have Wild Peak at3w 315 70 r17 , had Nitto Terra Grapplers 295 70 r17 last, and before that General Grabber AT2 265 70 r17. The AT3W are the best for wet traction and in my opinion the best tire I have had yet on a lifted truck (other trucks before had BFG MT, ko2, Goodyear Wrangler MTR, cooper discover at3). I only have 9000 miles on them so far but they have been great and I would be a repeat customer. Probably the first tire I can say that about.

My Nitto TG have been good for me. There are better options I’m sure but I’m satisfied.

Not hydroplaning is the bare minimum.

My General Grabbers are just ok in the rain. Pretty easy to get them to slide. I definitely wouldn't rate them as "best"

Can't go wrong with the Falken they really are the top of the heap right now .... and lots of sizes too.

I was very happy with the Wildpeaks (SL rating) in all conditions, esp wet. Way better than the stock tires and seemingly better in a straight line than my new Nokians.

The only problem is that I don't feel the Wildpeaks are worth $250+.

Ditto. I was able to get 50,000 miles from the Wildpeaks. They were decent enough tires good in the rain and snow but as they wore they did develop some ride/vibration issues. I paid $130 per tire for them, I didn't buy new Falkens at the new and improved pricing.

Reshoed with Toyo OC A/T III about 2,000 miles ago. Happy with the choice.

    First post wins the thread.

TBH if highway driving and wet traction are a huge thing get the regular michelin m/s which is more of an suv or car tire.

    Yoko G015 vote here.

It's hit and miss with water. You really want a directional pattern to eject the water, but with trucks thats very hard to find.

My winter tires are directional and great in the wet, but would only last 2 weeks with florida heat lol.

    Another Falken.

They have been the best all-around tire I've ran. Rain both light and heavy, dry, snow, mud... It's been confident in all.

Their only downside is that they can be a pain in the ass to balance. Still worth it.
