What's a good, cheap mod that can be helpful while driving at night? I live in a rural area with long stretches of road that are deer magnets. My headlights don't give off enough light to make it comfortable going over 45-50 mpg.

I was thinking maybe a 30" led bar in the lower bumper. Would that be enough?

I have a 20” mounted right below my bumper and it lights up a big part of the road and exponentially improves peripherals. I’d imagine 30” would be better so I don’t think you can go wrong.

Tbh I’m not sure, some off brand deal. But if you’d like some quality, reasonable, lights look up diode dynamics. They have light bars that, if positioned properly, will bright up the road and are also legal to have on in traffic. In MO (the state) at least.

I hear ya, I’m plenty happy with my cheap crap. Can replace them 10 times before you hit the price of many competitors.

Pick up some cali raised side shooter ditch lights... They are pretty cheap, but you will also need the ditch light brackets.

I personally have 2 sets of baja designs squadron sport amber lights that i run for the same reason. 1 set is in the bumper the other are on ditch light brackets.

    Dammnitman !!!!

    That's mighty impressive.

Is that just the 4 Baja Design Sport Squadron lights without the regular headlights ????

    Stellar visibility.

I share the concerns of the OP and want to enhance my "deer vision" so I don't wind up hitting one.

Funny thing is how the last few hunts I've been on were slow....painfully slow. Not much to see. On a given drive to work or home from work....dark both ways....I'll have deer moving on most trips.

Some side shooters wired in to come on with my high-beams would be sweet.

I will second on the side shooter pods. I have Cali Raised and do like the wide angle.

Pattern is the most important attribute when choosing a light. If you're buying a cheap light bar off Amazon, pay attention to what type is pattern it has. Most of those use a spot or driving patterns. Which basically puts them on par with your high-beams. But hopefully brighter. If you want side visibility get some wide/cornering lights. Best placement is ditch brackets but a light bar in the bumper or on the roof will work too... as long as the light pattern is spread to the sides.

I have a 30" in the lower part of the bumper . I always have it on when Im leaving work (swing shifts) its saved me a few times , deer are thick where Im at. I have also forgotten to click it off when a car comes by , they dont appreciate it to much , I know because the light lets me see their faces .:rofl::rofl:
    Its a Caliraised one

CrashnBurn did a good write up on the Ultimate Headlight Mod that for the cost might net you some good results. I'm just running a set of Osram Nightbreakers at stock wattage which made for a nice upgrade and the bulbs so far have lasted me a couple years and still going.

Also I'm running BajaDesigns Fog light Kit with Squadron R Sport lights, Amber in Wide Corning in conjunction with the ND4 Foglight anytime mod. These make an awesome difference at lighting up more of the road and the sides of the road and do a great job. However, they create more of a focus point rather than a defined cutoff so they have some glare all around. I tend to turn them off as a courtesy to passing drivers. Some oncoming drivers have flashed me with their high beams. I think the light really hits them in the face right as they're about past me. Usually then I can see their faces squinting, bathed in yellow light, and by that point they're gone. So yeah, better for empty roads and should be turned off for passing motorists.
