I'm looking for the best all terrain tire based on weight to performance and wanted to get the forums opinion.

My truck mainly does commuter duty (why I'm focused on weight), but gets out to play every once in a while on FL trails. I'd like to take some trips up to north GA in the future as well.

In the table below, I've identified some P and C rated all terrain tires in the 265/70r17 and 255/75r17 sizes that range from 39 to 47lbs. I realize P rated all terrains get trashed a lot on forums, but I'm trying to be realistic for my needs. However, it seems like LT C rated tires last a good bit longer than P rated which is why I'm torn. Wet traction is a big deal down here in FL as well.

Let me know what you think or if I've missed another good contender as well.

The AT3 LT are probably one of the best for highway and rain.
The Lt tread looks good when you see it in person.
Your not going to see much of a difference in mpg between the P and the C

Cooper AT3 LT hands down. Cant go wrong with any of the AT3 Designs to be honest. I have them on my tacoma now and had them on my 2002 tundra. Work great in the snow and fantastic on the trail, quiet compared to others. My brother used to have duratracs and switched to the at3 4s and likes them more than the duratracs. After seeing the performance, both my brothers and their friends have switched to the AT3.

PLUS they are made in the USA...

Has your brother tried the 4S on dirt and rocks yet? Wondering how they'll do in terrain such as death valley or Anza borrego

Hes used them in mud, snow, and gravel roads no problem. if you plan on taking them on sharp rocks I would recommend at3 LT's

Ok thanks. Sounds like a great set of tires. I got the 4s and have yet to take them on dirt. But they've performed great in the rain

Are you guys factoring in the weight of your wheels as well? A lighter alloy wheel might offset a heavier E tire, you get the point.

I would be taking into consideration the weight of your wheels as well as the weight of tires.

The thing that worries me is that they're listed as 70T, but the detailed description states the load index and speed rating is 112T. I doubt that walmart would be able to give me concrete answers until I can see them in person...

I haven't ran any of those tires but those falkens look like normal street tires once they are half worn down. Like they are only sipped half way down.
Well I just googled and I was think of a regular falken wildpeak a/t not the at3w. I would still rather have a set of coopers rather than falkens.
