What are the best alarm systems, that also have remote start & glass break sensors, for manual transmission Tacomas?

I have Clifford alarms in both the Tacoma and work trucks. Unfortunately they were bought out and shut down by dei.

My go to installer was forced to switch to code alarm. He’s not happy about having to do it but I know he’s going to go with the best thing he can get.

The DEI brands (Viper, Clifford, etc.) used to have an optional install for manual trannies. These have a routine you need to go through when you shut the vehicle off to prepare it for remote start the next startup. Basically, it is like your computer asking you if you REALLY want to delete a file that you clicked delete for. This is to make doubly sure that the parking brake is engaged and the trans is not in gear. I am not sure of the current offerings still have this provision or not.

On the Clifford, when I asked about remote start, he said he’d need to make it bypass the chip key security, so I passed.

Yes, for vehicles that have the immobilizer chip in the key you need to bypass that for remote start whether you have auto or manual trans. That requires installing and programming a bypass module. Not really a big deal. I DIY'ed my Clifford system and used a Fortin PK-ALL bypass module.
