I was curious if anyone has installed a 3.5 Total Chaos Long Travel Kit and if so, how well they loved it? Was in on a 2x4 or a 4x4. And what aftermarket coilovers were used when the long travel kit was out of. Some good front shocks and coilovers since I'll be installing an aftermarket front bumper as well.

Most go with King, ADS, or Fox. 8" coilovers are used with that kit. Icon has some too now I believe. 650-600# spring rate is pretty standard. I've never heard a complaint about the TC kit.

The big question is what are you doing for your rear suspension because without significant upgrades to the rear, the front kit won't improve your off road ability very much. You'll still be bouncing the back end through anything the front can handle. I'm not sure if you have but read through all of the the stickied threads in the long travel forum and start reading all of the other threads as well. You'll learn a lot and not have to ask too many questions. Basically you want to get the rear done either in a really good spring over / extended travel setup or really you want to go spring under if you're going to match the ability of the front. Oh yeah be prepared to spend around $10k minimum. Unless you have some fabrication skills or a friend to get all of the gussets and rear cage setup done for much less than you'll pay someone else to.

Read this if you haven't already.

    Good job asking questions.

Well I plan on Doing work to the back, Spring Under is the plan, but temporarily I'm just doing the front. That's why I'm so curious about extra Accessories I'll need for the front kit. Like I said, I'm gonna order the full total chaos kit and probably king or Fox shocks, just need to know if I'll need to order the spindles too or not or if anyone knows.

A few long travel kits offer fully fabbed spindles, but you'll be paying a lot more $1k or so at least like LSK's kit. If you're going to buy fabbed spindles that's probably who I'd go with.

But if you mean spindle gussets then be careful who welds them up - a couple people have had gusseted spindles break on them when they weren't beating on their trucks. Probably cam tab gussets are the most popular addition to long travel kits.

So, you're saying I will need to get a new set of Spindles then?

Only if you want them. All kits except for high end ones like Solo and LSK are meant to work with stock spindles. You can choose to reinforce the spindles with gussets if you want to. That's where you have to be careful who welds them apparently - can't say for sure what it is, but there have been a couple guys with them that broke for seemingly no obvious reason - that said there's a lot more who haven't had any issues with theirs at all.

Badass man that's what I needed to know for sure. I'm on the forums looking at the welding situation right now.
