Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone here has a recommendation for an after market (non OEM) garnish for the pro grille that best resembles the OEM garnish. I realize you can have one tinted to make it more subdued, and I may end up having to go that route. Right now, I have a TacoVinyl grille and garnish that I'm replacing with an OEM grille and a yet-to-be-determined garnish.

My TacoVinyl garnish has noticeably bright silver paint, so I'm trying to find a garnish that isn't as noticeable and has a finish more similar to the OEM garnish. I've seen a few used OEM garnishes on here too, and I know that's an option as well.

I appreciate any comments on a less shiny non OEM garnish. Thanks!

Old thread, but would be good to see some comments on this. I’d be interested in a garnish that looks closer to oem as well.

Well, I took a chance and ordered just the garnish from Cartrimhome...used a discount code and got it for like $28. Obviously a product from overseas, but man, it does look a lot more subdued than most third party garnishes. It's a lot darker, and the silver paint is no where as near as bright as my TacoVinyl garnish. I'm pleasantly surprised!

I had considered Taco Garage garnish too, but they admitted to me that there's are 'bright and shiny', which is NOT what I wanted.

I have not installed it yet, so I cannot confirm how it works with the sensor or how it looks installed, but I think it will be better than the TacoVinyl setup I currently have installed. I think some people even put window tint or a protective coating, like Xpel Stealth PPF, over it to make it even better.

Post some pictures when you get around to installing it. I had been looking at the Taco Garage one, but if it looks really shinny, I'll keep looking. In the end, function over form is most important, though.

Here ya go, I took a pic of it this morning.

This is with the Taco Vinyl grille and the cartrimhome garnish. I have to say, the cartrimhome garnish is the closest to OEM that I've personally seen. I'm happy with it, and I didn't even have to put tint on it!

Do any of them actually blend in with the grill? Don't know if it is just the angle of the photo, but this one sticks out like a sore thumb.

Eh, I don't know. You're seeing the glare, which I think is due to the reflective surface. Maybe tint would help with that. What I was trying to avoid was the horrible, very shiny silver paint on my Taco Vinyl garnish...it was ridiculous.

Here's a quick comparison between the Taco Vinyl and Cartrimhome garnishes:

I’m going to tint mine, I’ll post pics once I do. Right now I could see my garnish from a mile away.

Wanted to avoid the bright silver garnish some aftermarket sellers offer. Took the advice of some other TW members and bought ours from Taco Garage. Very good quality, fits perfectly and blends in quite well IMHO. Taco Trail Edition Grille 2 .jpg

Is the sensor affected in any way by dropping it lower on the grill?

Not at all, at least with ours. Be sure all of the connections are clean and snug and you'll be good to go.

Well, I personally contacted Taco Garage, and this was their reply to me:

"I can definitely attest that our Garnishes are just as bright and shiny like the ones you have seen.
The gray in them is a silver metallic color which causes the light to reflect and shine like that, It looks very nice!
    "

That was exactly the opposite of what I wanted, so I went another direction...

Stupid me, though, I also bought an OEM Pro grille and was installing it this past weekend and broke it, so I have my Taco Vinyl grille back in, ugh!. :(

Like TRDRed said, I've had no issues with either of my after market garnishes and dropping the sensor thus far.

Wow, that IS dark! Don't think I've seen one that dark before. I do like being able to see some of the pattern on the garnish, personally. Looks good though.
