I bent the passenger side wing of my aluminum Pelfrey front bumper slightly up and outward in an altercation with a street sign. Rest in peace street sign. This now hits the flairs and is driving me crazy. Do you feel this is something a body shop could bend back into place?

Pulling on an aftermarket aluminum bumper is out of the norm for most body shops. Pretty much any body shop has the equipment to anchor the truck to the floor, set up a pull post and pull. BUT, the factory frame bumper mounts are not very strong. Pulling on the bumper is risky in that it could rip the mounts off the frame.

How much it's bent will also be a determining factor in how well it comes out. If the aluminum is stretched or kinked, it's not going to come out cosmetically perfect.

I don't work at a body shop, but I have used a pull post to straighten some stuff out. Basically you just hook everything up and stand on the pedal and see what happens.

THanks for the info man. Good point, the factory mounts are pretty weak tabs for sure. Its not bent a lot and there is no kinking. it would be theoretically a 1" move down and 1" inch inward. I'll post some pics this evening to hopefully gather more insight

I would wrap a tow strap around that bent corner and use another vehicle to try to carefully pull it back out from the flares. If it got bent from a street sign, I can't imagine it would take too much torque to bend it back unless that street sign was nailed to a telephone pole.

Unfortunately it need to be bent back in towards the truck. Its hard to explain how it happened but it just caught the edge and bent it outwards and up so it hits the flair above it. it need to be bent down to clear the flair and in to match the body line. This will make sense with the pics

Sounds like that's gonna be tough to fix. It's a lot easier to pull than it is to push.

It might be possible to remove the bumper and have it straightened in a hydraulic press. Somebody will need to know what they are doing and have a big enough press and lots of blocking. The brute force method would be to remove it, block it up well and stable on a driveway and hammer it straight(er). You hooked the sign swinging away from it while backing up?

Find a big ass boulder, park next to it and use a jack between the bumper and boulder to push it back. Just don't let the jack slip and mangle your fender.
