    lol. Belt dressing.
Why not find the cause of the squeak and fix it?

No belt should require dressing. If the belt wasn't shot before it is now.

Belt dressing is great is you like squeaky belts and sticky shit all over the place. It gets even better when dirt starts to collect on the belt dressing too. :D

Think I will just change the belt out. Got 80K on the truck so it is probably time.

Got a new belt from Advance Auto for $25.00 and replaced it today. Took only 20 minutes and no more squeaky belt. Yes.....

so I had the same issue belt was starting to squeak on rainy days, then got worse would squeal every morning that it was damp or if there was dew, so I bought a new belt installed it and now instead of a constant squeal i'm getting a rather consistent squeak any ideas?

    It's a never ending $100-$200 a week thing & still going.
If the belt is new and you still have a squeak, I would make sure the pulleys are clean.

    +1

Belt dressing is a half-assed fix, much like starting fluid.

Haha, yup. There was a member on here who recently used that shit and sprayed it into the intake "to check for spark" while trying to start the engine.

Made of ehtyl ether eh? I've never heard of that crap up until now. Wow.

If you want to check for a potential NO FUEL situation, then the best combustible you can use is good old carburetor cleaner sprayed into the intake while cranking. Definitely not a way to "check for spark." Trolololol!

I had the same problem about a year after I bought my truck, I thought it was the belt to but it was a bad tensioner. That sound use to drive me crazy and when it was damp out it was very embarassing for a new truck to sound like that. Not going to go into the shit I had to deal with at the dealer and still under waranty.

Never use belt dressing or any oils on the belts......

Belts squeek & squeel because of 4 basic things....
    1) Belts are coming loose and need tightened
    2) Belts are getting old and need changed
    3) Pulleys are dirty and need cleaned
    4) Bearings in the pulleys are going bad

How do you do that to a spring loaded belt tensioner?

Pulley adjustments are a thing of the past.

My bad. My brain went right to a belt change I did last year, which was not serpentine.

Didn't even think of that, makes since seeing how black my hands were after taking the old one off. What should I use to clean them, just a clean dry rag?

I like to use brake parts cleaner, and a toothbrush. The cleaner evaporates quickly. The toothbrush gets down in the grooves of the pulleys good.
