Behind The Back Seat Mod Ideas For Rifle/Pistol Storage

Anyone have any good solutions or photos/videos for modifying behind the back seat for rifle/pistol storage?

 

I pulled out the plastic as soon as I bought the truck. That leaves just enough hidden storage behind the seat. I intended to come back and add some sort of mounting hardware for organizing things but never did. It works fine how it is for me.

You won't break anything pulling out the plastic. It comes out easy and would go back in just as easy. I'd suggest pulling it and seeing if it will meet your needs.

 

I’m just here to say do not get the locking cubby cover from Tuffy Security Products. It is hot garbage. I bought, installed, and promptly returned it.

Back in the old days, just about every pickup truck had one of these in the back window. Plus the saddle blanket bench seat covers had a pouch along the front of the bottom that would hold a rifle.

I've had that panel on my wish list for years, just never really needed it because everything I carry just barely fits behind the seats.

I remember trucks in my high school parking lot with those window racks full of rifles during deer season. My how times have changed.

 

Wish I lived in a state that wasn’t so commie….the gun rack is frowned upon by most here

 

To what end? Just put them in soft cases on the floor or back seat while you transport them to/from the spot you’re using them.
If you’re looking for a “truck gun”, behind the rear seat isn’t exactly a location that provides quick access… Look at molle panels for the back of the front seats.
Leaving firearms unattended in the vehicle, “secured” or otherwise is irresponsible.

All good points and extremely practical. I put all my stuff in cases when I go to the gun range. This was more just out of pure curiosity to see if anyone had gone the route of utilizing that space, practical or not.

Yeah, the old days. These days, you have a gun in one of those and get out of eye shot of your vehicle and you'll come back to a broken window and an empty rack. Hell, back then, I never locked my car/truck.

 

Lock'er Down used to make custom long rifle safes from double rolled 12 gauge steel but they went out of business last summer.

 

that's a solid option....too bad they don't make it anymore....def not a quick and easy access, but would get the job done if you needed to secure the toys
