    I found this on Wiki..the extended cab featured a 6-foot (2 m) bed while the crew cab featured a 5-foot-5-inch (1.65 m) bed.

I forgot to include it but that blurb specifically mentioned the 2001 year.

Don't hold me to this, but my wife is pretty sure her 96 extended had an 8 foot bed. I am not sure I believe it but I guess it's possible in the early years.

95.5 -04 Tacomas only had 2 bed sizes.
6ft on regular cab and extended cab. 5ft on double cab.

That was what I thought as well..plus already driving an extended cab in my example you'd have a large truck if you stuffed an 8 ft bed on the back

I am having a problem finding one that fits well. Does anyone have any specific information on bed sizes?

    I have a 2001 Tacoma xtracab 4x4 SR5 v6 manual
(Would love to know trim also. I.e. base,pre-runner,s-runner, DXL. I think DXL)

    76.5

    60 3/4

    Inside to inside

    75

    57.9

I have found a couple of cap, shell, topper or whatever they call them that do match the measurements I have. Unfortunately they usually have sold by the time I get a response from seller.

If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it. I feel I am overthinking this and I’m beyond frustrated.

I just don’t one like I had on this when I purchased it. There was big gap between cab and cap and it also hub over tailgate by 1.5-2 inches.

    thank you for the time.

The only toyota at this time that had an 8 foot bed was the T100. It came with either a 6 foot or an 8 foot bed. It was made between 92 and 98

Today this truck is known as tundra

Nope. No such thing as an 8' bed on a Tacoma
