Got a few quotes to repair this damage. PDR option 1 $800, PDR option 2 $1100, repair the bedside at an independent body shop $1,500, replace the bedside with the dealer body shop $3,200.

Curious as to opinions on the best route to go. Money isn't an issue.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

What did the pdr quotes offer you for end results? It looks like it’s close to a crease, but I think a good pdr guy could pull it
Keeping your original paint and sheet metal is what I would lean to

I think an exceptional PDR guy could get that to "like new" condition. I'd be shocked if it could be done for $800.

I think it really boils down to what are your expectations for the finished product?

I personally would lean towards a reputable body shop. I'd call a dealer for a body shop recommendation, but I would never contract through the dealer. Nearly all dealers sub out collision repair to outside shops. So, it's not like they do the work.

    Good luck!

Ugh, I would not go with the lowest bidder. As mentioned, consider your expectations. Your truck looks well taken care of; I’d call insurance, get it fixed correctly, and keep it that way.

Go the PDR route, they can get that out. And finish removing the TRD decal!

I jack knifed a trailer into it in my yard. Was visually appreciating my wife’s attributes while she was working in the garden.

In terms of fix quality I’d like it to be as like-new as possible. Haven’t made a decision yet on what to do.

30+ years in collision repair... You will not be happy with a pdr repair to that. The boxside is bolt on... Bite the bullet, fix it right. Especially if you are picky. Understand, if you go cheap and do not like the pdr, now you have that money out, and you still have to pay to fix it, right. Buy once, cry once. Ski

A good PDR guy would be able to make it look like it never happened. Always lean towards the least invasive option when it comes to body work IMO. I can't see any visible paint scratches other than the little bit missing from the TRD sticker?

Time to trade it for a new one. I helped a buddy of mine fix a similar dent in the side of his F-250 bed. If you can get to the inside of the fender (remove the fender liner or from underneath), reach up with a rubber mallet and pop the dent back out. It won't be entirely perfect, there will be a tiny spot where the crease was, but almost good as new. Won't cost anything but some time. Then buy some aftermarket fender flares that are fancier than the stock ones.

Was she bent over and not wearing underwear? I usually save those Kodak moments for when I can watch them without any distractions at all.

I've decided to go the route of replacing the bed panel myself. Ordered the part from Toyota for $760. It's backordered and won't be available until October. Apparently not a single new oem 6' bed panel exists in the entire country right now. Just a heads up for anyone else going through something similar.

There's no way PDR could pop that out with the crease in the fender body line. Getting the paint match will be harder than swapping the panel.

Order the fender flare while you're at it.

According to the collision center they have a method of identifying the proper shade and matching it.

Cheapest fender flare I've found so far is $127, non-oem. But naturally, it will be replaced. The other plastic pieces will be saved. The truck will be de-badged so no stickers to worry about.

How much were you quoted to prep, prime, and paint?
