Looking at buying this. The ads show 3 options
    -bed only
-bed/tailgate 1piece with hinge area of tail gate covered by rug
    - bed and tailgate rugs, separate units.

    pros/cons of the options.

    thanks folks!

That all depends on whether you installing a matching couch.

Bedrug is a brand. Not sure if it is o.k. to put links to commercial ads in one's posts on this forum. If you Google Bedrug you will see the various options.

I have the xlt bedrug in mine currently, bottom and tailgate covered matches the carpet in my a cap. I have the full bed rug in my garage attic. Just depends if you want the sides carpeted. I might switch to the full eventually. It’s easy to clean but I don’t haul garbage, dirt etc in the bed, use a flatbed trailer for that kind of stuff. If I didn’t have a cap I’d keep my mat in there. Stuff will slide around on the carpet.

watch sales on Amazon….Don’t get the impact mat. It’s shit.

I personally love the bedrug. I've put them practically in ever truck I've owned. I just get the one for the bed not the sides or tailgate. Throw an Extang Trifecta Signature soft fold tonneau on top and I'm good to go.

I have the full bed rug and really like it. It didn't have cutouts for the bed lights or inverter outlet but easy to cut that out. I also have a bed cover and factory bed mat. I don't haul anything messy (dirt, etc) so I never need to clean it. This does prevent use of bike racks that mount using the gap between bed and tailgate but not an issue for me.

I also keep a 3x5 outdoor rug in the bed so if I want to easily slide something in or out I can. Otherwise the bed mat holds stuff in place.

I have the XLT (bed and tailgate covered, not sides) and it’s been real nice. Sometimes wish I had the one covering the sides for better insulation/comfort to lean against. However, during a recent trip to Death Valley I had some gasoline spill on the rug and stink it up. Later in the trip I just stopped at a self serve car wash, pulled out the rug and washed it out with the pressure wand. Worked perfect. That would have been more challenging with the full bed rug.

I have just the tailgate mat...it makes it easier on these old knees when climbing in and out of the truck bed.

I really appreciate you folks taking the time to answer my question. You have me leaning toward going with 2 part option. Something about the piece rug (bed and tailgate) might be problem with the hinge covered area.
