bed rack with tonneau cover

Hello all,
I’m looking for a bed rack that is also capable of having a tonneau cover. I currently have the tri fold tonneau cover that I got from Toyota when I bought the truck and I would love to keep that one and use a bed rack with that. However I’d be open to other options as well. I’ve looked online a lot and I can seem to find what I’m looking for. I saw bullie bars but they seem way too short to be able to flip the tonneau cover open when I need to. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

It may be difficult to find one that allows you to open the tri-fold while the bed rack is in place. The challenge is because typically tonneau covers utilize the existing bed rails so it's difficult to install a bed rack that also typically utilizes those same rails.

KB VooDoo has an option, but you won't be able to open your tri-fold with it installed. You'll have to remove the bed bars.

they have full height at 19", I don't remember exactly how tall that is, maybe full height will be above the cab height allowing you to put a ladder

All of our bed crossbars and bed racks are compatible with your cover, but you will not be able to open the OEM cover.

We do have a cover that allows a tri-fold cover to open, but it will not work with your OEM cover because the feet of the rack interfere with the pins that lock the cover down. To my knowledge, nobody makes a bed rack that will allow your OEM cover to fully open. If you want a rack, and really need to be able to open the cover, a different cover is what you need.

It has been our experience that being able to open the cover isn't very important to most of our customers. If you need full access to your bed, the rack is easily removable.

The cover can't open with the rack installed.

To have a rack and a cover that opens, you need a retractable cover like a Retrax, or a BAK Revolver. Some soft rollups work as well.

8" Billie Bars work great with a roll-up tonneau cover, there's room under the 8" brackets to fully roll up the cover, it would be harder with the 5" brackets (but could probably still be done).

Plus, with Billie Bars, there are only four bolts holding in each of the crossbars so they are very easy and light to take off if you need access to the entire bed.

 

6” is the perfect height for bed crossbars.

I've never heard anyone complain about 8" inches...
