Do you feel the aluminum holds up pretty well? Happy with it? I've been debating on steel/aluminum just for the weight savings.

    Aluminum
    Weight: 35 lbs
    Static carry weight: 620 lbs

    Steel
    Weight: ~85 lbs
    Static carry weight: 770 lbs

With a rooftop tent, my wife and I are well below both of those. Roof-Tent, 2 people, gear, we're maybe around 450 to 500 lbs, if that.

I think it should be fine but I have not put my RTT on yet (within the next few weeks). I also debated about this and Eddie mentioned he used to run an Aluminum with an RTT with no concerns regarding weight. The welds are solid so I am not worried about it if that helps

Yeah, that does. Thanks for the info and response man. Great looking truck too. I think I'll shoot for the aluminum.

Thanks & no problem, I am sure you will be happy either way but saving an extra 50lbs is well worth it.

Wow, that looks great! Not nearly as tall above the cab as some of the photos make it seem. I know the website said 2.5in above cab height, but the pictures made it seem way taller. And I also have a Prinsu, so it's good to know they'll be close to even in height.

I'm thinking about ditching my current bed rack + RTT and getting the SOS + Softopper + RTT, and it's still about ~1000 cheaper than buying a hard shell...

Thanks! I used to run the same set up but got tired of the dust getting into everything. I know the topper won't keep it all out but for the price (and easily removable) it works for my needs. Oh and yes it sits pretty much flush with the Prinsu rack

I've had great success with my softopper. Keeps out all the dust, and I've had zero water leaking.

Sorry if this has already been asked but what’s a good place to purchase the soft toppers for a short bed?

Buy it used if you can. Other wise buy it directly from them.

Mobtown offroad has a nice over the softopper bed rack. From 900 to 1200 dollars.

How did you get the Softopper to mount with the Rack? Cut away some spots?
I have a Third Gen so I am not familiar if the Second Gen toppers mount the same or not. I would love to run a setup like this so I can have a RTT and still use my Softopper.

Our Softopper rack is complete, we're just waiting for the first run of parts to be complete.

    It is all aluminum.

It will be available in two different heights (one specifically for the Tacoma, and the other for taller versions of Softoppers).

It will be available in 46" and 58" lengths, and also 70" and 88" for bigger trucks (those will be six leg racks).

It will come with two accessory panels, but you can add as many as you want.
