UpTop Overland is one I discovered on TW and they are my pick right now.
    Things I like:

-Aluminum, light (45# for full height) and won’t rust.
    -Made in Colorado.
    -Free shipping.
-I like the design of the install hardware, it has good metal backing plates that slide into rails and the base bars also sit on top of the bed caps. Another rack I was looking at had a welded bolt on the plate that slides into the rail and that looks like a possible failure point to me.
-The rail track doesn’t get covered up so I think you could leave the moveable tie down connectors on the rail (not sure they are needed with all the available connection points).
-Three height to choose from, the 19” full size is $999.

CBI is another I like, their Overland Bed Bar is a set of two steel bed bars for $400 plus shipping. I like those because they are easily removed and have a lower bling factor if you are just mounting something over your bed. At 12” high they might not work for something long like a kayak or SUPs. They do have attachments available for some overland equipment like a hi-lift, but I don’t see a plate to mount all the things if that is what you are after.

Thanks for all your help, wish there was somewhere I could check all these different options out in person unfortunately this is a custom retrofit culture.

I would encourage you to avoid kb voodoo at all costs. Just had a terrible experience with them. Your money would be better spent elsewhere. Faulty hardware out of the box, product incompatibility, and miserable customer support.

I went with them as others have had better experiences but I could not in good conscience recommend them after what I went through.

That sucks. I had really good experience with them and the max modular rack. Pretty happy with it overall.

Ask him to explain exactly what happened. There are reasons why he left out all the details.

The RCI bedrack seems to be pretty solid!

I love my RCI mid rack. Gives me enough room in the bed and the RTT sits almost flush with my roof rack on my cab.

I’d be happy to explain how an out of spec bolt wouldn’t thread the t-nut so I couldn’t install them without an extra trip to the hardware store. Or how my tonneau mounts need to occupy the same real estate as the bar mount so they aren’t compatible but we’re recommended to me by the company. Or how the coating didn’t hold up to one installation attempt and rust has started to develop after being on the truck for two days. And how as “customer support” KB DooDoo suggested I buy a can of rust oleum and a new tonneau...

I expected better from a “made in America” company. I wasn’t trying to drag them through the mud so yeah, I left all that out.

They were great about taking my money and shipping the bars quickly. No complaints there. But everything since has been abysmal.

Other people have had great experiences and if anyone decides to buy from them I wish them the best. But I won’t be giving them any more of my money and I encourage any/everyone to look elsewhere.

We could respond with more detail about the situation with this particular customer, but we aren't going to get into a pissing match on an internet forum.

Ultimately we want all of our customers to be happy. As we said twice last night, we are more than willing to offer any assistance that you require to get your crossbars installed with your tent and cover. You know how to reach us.

I don't want a pissing match. I didn't want any communication with KB Voodoo but you've implied I've been dishonest and not-forthcoming. I replied to a post for recommendations about bed racks. My recommendation is to not support KB Voodoo. If you don't want a negative recommendation, provide a better product and support. I have sent KB Voodoo photos and video including measurements as to how this could work and I have received no such assistance.. So please, don't insult my integrity and expect me to take it falsely in stride.
