Hey TW! Looking for recommendations for a bbq. I’m thinking something that can be powered using the 400W power outlet in the bed. Has anyone found an electric grill under 400W that might work? Thanks for any recommendations!

There’s a 400w hotdog roller cooker online, but for a grill to cook a meals worth of real meat and other good food, I’d consider a propane powered portable grill over a tiny electric grill. But wood or charcoal is best, however you can’t use that in a lot of places due to fire restrictions, but propane is usually allowed unless its a red flag day.

I’d look into a Traeger wood pellet grill. IIRC, they draw around 300 Watts for startup, then much lower to run the auger and fan while cooking.

fully armored, 4.88, 33 skinnies, tundra brakes, a REAL cold air intake.
Ohm's Law says thats 3 Amps, to give you an idea the outlets in your house are usually 15, and kitchens is usually 20. Use gas or charcoal/wood.

Hm...makes sense why I haven’t seen a small electric grill at this low wattage. Thanks for the comments!

The issue is that the inverter in the bed is modified sine wave and Traeger recommends a pure sine wave inverter.

You will need to hook up that pure sine wave to the battery to start 300W, then it drops to less than 50W.

I just checked our Foreman grill and it's 800 watts. Get a small gas grill that runs off a 1lb propane tank or buy an aftermarket power invertor.
Pellet grills are nice, but they aren't great for grilling.

Or just get a small charcoal grill.

Wrap it up in foil and throw it under the hood while you drive.

Weber portable gas grill, uses little propane bottles. We love it, works great on the tailgate.

I have a coleman grill. Has one burner (stove-type) on the left, and either a griddle or grille on the right. Does breakfast and lunch... Uses the same propane cans that lanterns use.

you will have so many issues trying to use that bed converter. it will only stay on for a certain amount of time and it will shut itself off. if you are serious about this get a stand alone set up for your power.

Personally i use a webber grill.
    https://www.amazon.com/Weber-500600...t=&hvlocphy=9031309&hvtargid=pla-273250506659

i just plop it on a table next to the bed or on the tailgaite itself. ZBWSoNSfUkDbu4oexu7OwCmM5Rr_cPqBATsnnsyr_970052d55ef67a3e8897f76fe2410a5b685aaf6f.jpg

I love those Coleman grills. They’re pretty bullet proof, and great when you want to hear a liquid as opposed to, well, grilling something.

That’s the one I have, it’s awesome. We even take it on the boat.

I have a little Green Mountain Grills pellet grill. In full disclosure I sell these at my job. It is actually set up to run on 12 volt but comes with a 120 volt adapter so you can plug it in at home.

I've probably had it for 20 years or more by now... Was an impulse buy, and man have I put it to use. It's perfect for tailgating before a game...
