Might be a simple question, but, has anyone had their bed lights go out? Both of them?? I just noticed they aren't turning on with the switch inside on either mode (on, w/door). I know they are LED lights but shouldn't they last a long time before going out?

I'd like to check the fuse for it to see if it accidently blew out, but would that be in the fuse box in the cab or under the hood?

Have you checked fuses and wiring?

That's what I want to check out, the fuse. Need to look at the manual to see where the fuse is located.

Do the cargo lights illuminate? The bed lights are "usually" installed in parallel with them.

Checked the Cargo LP fuse in the cab and it is not blown.

@caribe makaira I'm not familiar with this wiring diagram but I'm assuming that's how the wiring for the two bed lights go. Am I supposed to check the pin connector? Or is there a T-tap that is on the wire for the cargo light that may be not fully connected?

Sure, verify if it's a loose tap.
    Does the Cargo Lamp illuminate?

There is a pdf (can't find mine) for the installation of the bedlighting from Toyota.
It will show you the exact T-tap point and how the get to it.

There is a T-tap to the cargo light circuit, under the drivers kickpanel.
Kickpanel is pretty easy to remove.

If your cargo light works in the back,
    Check the T-Tap.
Then Look for dangling wires under the truck, the cable for these lights comes out from a rubber plug under the drivers seat from the passenger compartment then runs along the frame to the rear tail light area then to the bed lights.

THIS^^^ my lights went out about three months after I got my taco. There is a fuse next to the T-tap. However, my problem was the t-top. It cut the wire. I removed the t-tap and soldered. No more issues since then.

If the t-tap is on connector IA2 (Black) pin 11 [white wire] verify the 25 amp towing fuse in the engine bay fuse box.

There a few ways for the install according to the instructions, no telling what the Dealership did/followed...

In my truck, they just tapped the cargo bed light wiring on the driver side kick panel. A least they used an inline fuse.

Also, if you trace the wiring, you'll find quick connectors. It has a Y connection and about 20' of extra wiring strapped right next to the spare tire.

Now you need to find out why it blew. You might have a short to ground or a bad light.

2019 TRD Pro, I added some rock lights to the rear bed cargo light circuit that proved to be too much for the 3 amp fuse. I was ok with them being switched by the door or manually with the cargo light switch. Now I guess I’ll add a switch panel to manage all my accessories. Took me forever to find it. Figured I’d contribute a couple more pics of what mine looks like.

Maybe a bad crimp/tap or chaffed wire or a bad LED light. The wire gauge and fuse level is fine also. The circuit tapped is 7.5, and the Cargo & Bed Lamps do not consume near it. What rock lamps do you have? How many?

@caribe makaira Yeah… all my fuses were good except the blown 3 amp tap that was a pain to find. I’m separating the rock lights on their own switch anyway so my bed cargo lights are back to factory configuration. Thanks for the thread, it helped me find the hidden tap fuse behind the driver kick plate.
