How could I have phrased that question BETTER...

There are times I pick up lumber (No wood jokes) and other items and can't see it in the bed, but would like to know it’s still secure going down the road.

You know how this works... let me help: "Has anyone installed a camera in the truck bed?"

    Key word is truck.

    Well,.....thats a different question.

No, camera looking at the load in the truck bed. I check the load when the truck is stopped with a quick head turn to look.

I frequently use ratchet straps to secure the load. I don't run with lumber loose in the truck bed.

Absolutely, it’s the best addition, being able to keep an eye on cargo is super important to me.
Finding a decent option was hard, I was after one for years. MESO 3rd break light with camera was the best / only viable option I know of.

It’s a shame that this standard option on many trucks, and not even available on Toyota.

823EA6A8-CAA6-4D24-B038-607464E5A261.jpg I’m thinking if one needs a truck bed camera to keep an eye on their cargo while driving, then I would be concerned for other motorists around me that might be at risk from my load not being secured properly.

I have my rear facing dash camera pointing towards the bed but that’s more just in case someone rear ends me or if I’m parked/away from the truck it will be recorded in parking mode.
It makes sense to just turn around or check the rear view mirror to see if your stuff is still there.

No it doesn’t. It all depends on how you use your truck and what you put in the bed. It makes no sense to do that at night or when the cargo is lower than your view, also there are many time when you are watching how something may react over bumps and such, and you can’t turn around. I drive thousands of miles with bikes in the bed and usually at night. I’ve tried everything, but there is no substitute for a bed camera with IR being displayed on your headunit.

Isn’t that what people see in rear dash cams?

getting a rear dash cam live view on your headunit is harder than you may think. I looked at many options for that, and didn’t really like any of them. But yes it is possible with the right units and custom wiring. It would have been my last resort if MESO didn’t create the 3rd brake light option.

Not the best shot, but you get the idea. Local trip, so couldn’t be assed to tie them down, or remove bed cover. (wheels off wife’s car off to powder coater), so keep an eye on them with bed cam, moved around like a MF.

    Yep.

If anything i leave my sliding rear window open so i can see my load. And for fuck sakes guys, secure your loads. Properly tightened ratchet straps do wonders.

    Just a few examples...
