Has any one relocated their battery to their bed? Trying to get some ideas on how I want to do it and nothing coming up after searching

    ...too much shit to list.
    Weight distribution
    Cracked or broken core support
    Reduced taco lean
    Easier to run duals
Not restricted to the stupid reverse pole batteries Toyota uses

    Is that good?

All the above! Plus less front weight for jumps and such, risk of breaking and doing serious engine damage

I did not see you were that modded. Forget some people on here use their trucks more than others.

Not sure what anyone is running in terms of duals???? Getting around the reversed batter terminal situation is easier than a relocate.

I have relocated them on a three of my previous vehicles.

I would just pick a battery box that you like and attach it by means of a bed bolt. You are gonna have to get handy since there are no kits for our specific truck.

If you pick a box that has a bolt on lid setup I would place a disconnect switch under the hood inline or at the battery box.

I am guessing your truck is not going back to stock so purchase some welding lead cable in bulk from a electrical supply house and run it along the frame with proper grommets and fasteners. Just take off the factory leads and puts your own ends on the cables.

If you do plan to go back to stock you can couple onto the stock battery leads to make a quick change for future sale.

You can ground to the frame using the bed bolt but check your resistance values to verify it is a good ground.

I like odessey batteries if you want one to take abuse and are light, optimas turned to crap.

Ill def put a disconnect at the box and will mount it with insulated clamps, I'm just trying to see how others looked, I'm debating cuttin a hole in the side of the bed by the cab and mount the box in there so it's kind of hidden but readily accessible. Odessey is what I'll run, used to love optima till they moved to Mexico. My sig pic is pretty old lol I have done a lot since

in my bagged truck i had, i just used a generic plastic battery box and ran the 2ga welding cables up front. held the battery box down with some 1/4" bolts.

while it works for relocating, since its not solid mounted i would not jump or heavily off road with that type of setup

Lt is being made as we speak, prepping the truck for it, i have a 10" secured in the cab which hardly counts as a sound system, love the criticism tho any one have something constructive to add?

That's where I'm having issues, only plastic boxes seem to be truly sealed and weather proof, might just have to go silicone crazy with a metal box.

There is a decent amount of room in the rear bed quarters but you would really need to fab up a mount.

I typically over fabricate everything and make it built twice what is needed and would come off the frame.

I try to not cut up vehicles and work around what is there. Probably put it on drivers side since the cubby is larger.

The odessey are typically half the weight so I would not worry about putting it on the drivers side.

I don't want the box to fill with water in bad weather and corrode the crap out of terminals

Factory location is not sealed in any way. As long as you put up a shield and have it in a good box that is not taking in water all the time it is a non issue.

Use grommets to seal the box where the cable enters and seal the corners with silicone. Use weather strip on top lid for ease of access. Nice and strong to mount as well.

I debated the mount inside a plastic box and its not a bad idea, I can just drill a hole in the tab that the halves connect to to put a lock through.

I did do this on my plow truck.
I built a dual battery frame and used 2 battery boxes to keep them dry. Drilled 4 drain holes in each box in case of an issue. With stuff being thrown in the back covers were necessary. No issues but if your going to do this make sure it's built to take the abuse if you are gong to "jump it". One guy around here installed them in his tool box in the bed.
