Thoughts, advice, concerns, waste of money? With so many options in lifts and springs and coils and rear springs I'm really trying to figure out what is the best bang for the buck. I'm willing to spend the money if its worth it. But there are so many cons about everything that everyone posts. I was looking at King and Icon and Fox and OME. Looking for guidance

Do it. I ended up with Pro Comp because I was impatient. It looks like a good kit almost like the stage pro comp stage 2.

i was curious about this too and if it was just as up to par with quality and reliability as say a fox or ome or other known 2" lifts?

not trying to thread jack but just want to know the capabilities of this and if it's just as good to take it off road?

BDS is a good suspension company, I had an 8 inch long arm kit on my CUMMINS and loved it.

What size tire do you want?
    Are you willing to cut?
Will it be wheeled? If so what type of terrain or trail rating.

by all means. the more we learn the better. someone knows more about this than i do
Well i want enough tire but not enough where i have to cut. i want to be able to flex to the max without compromising the tire size for rubbing if that makes sense. it will be wheeled at trail rides, off road events, as some are calling it now "overlanding". i want it to be capable of mud, rock crawling. not looking to build a mud slut but want it to be capable. ive heard that the 6 inch rough country requires welding crossmembers. not sure if bds requires it. do blocks in the back really matter? or am i better off with a full spring kit? all these questions im so confused about. lol

Question you need to ask yourself:

Do I want to mall crawl or off-road?

Mall Crawl = Drop Bracket + Spacer Lift

Off-Road = OME, King, Fox, Icon (lift with springs).

it depends on what you want. are you just looking to fit a larger tire? then sure a drop bracket lift works. do you want longer travel? get a LT setup.
most real offroaders will tell you to go LT or at least MT then a drop bracket setup.
if you just want to fit a little larger tire try a 1" body lift.
with out knowing what you want out of it, its hard to say.
I know for myself, i would never buy a drop bracket kit.

You need to figure out what tire you want then we can figure out the lift size.
If over landing than you will have added weight and lift blocks with factory springs would not be good. Get a leaf pack either way. A drop bracket would not be ideal for offroad since you loose ground clearance.

do u actually loose ground clearance compared to stock or do u just mean not gain what u could from a LT setup.
it's not like it could be lower right?

what would be the clearance difference from the 6" bds to say a 2" icon lift

i know i was only planning on running 33's just for power reason and it's a DD.
idk how the OP feels but i want a good happy medium.

i do not want to mall crawl at all. i want my truck to be practical offroad "overland" camping use. doubt ill put a rtt on just bc of the money they cost. i dont mind ground camping. for $1700 i can get the OME kit with upper control arms and dakar springs. but i like the icon and king coil overs. jsut the $$$ for them is what is making me hesitant. are they truly worth it?

I have an OME kit with Dakars on my truck. It cost a pretty penny up front (especially since I paid a shop to install for me).

I'd really like to find the money to upgrade to Fox/Kings or Icon.

That being said, I did Moab in June 2016 and feel like I did pretty well all things considered! Had a great time.

If you want to off-road don't buy cheap lift kits. Do a real suspension system (OME, King, Fox, Icon, Toytec perhaps). No BDS, no Rough Country, Tuff Country, nothing 4" or 6" or 8". All those kits are for driving over curbs to drop panties off the men who are watching. Anything with spacers in it should get cut off your list if you truly want an off-road built rig.

A true suspension lift kit will improve the handling, ride feel, flex ability, and the amount of travel as you go over objects or drop off of them.

Marie is who sold me on my OME kit. That gal knows her stuff. :)

I really like my OME setup. Nothing wrong with it. However, I realize the Fox, King, and Icon systems are simply better at dampening - especially with reservoirs ($$$). I wrote behind the @Pelfreybilt rig in Moab a couple times over 'rough' terrain and their rig simply went faster than me. Some of that is probably simply the level of experience and Tyler just going faster. However, they had a much better suspension setup than my OME setup and it likely made their ride more comfortable. I went a bit slower simply because I felt like I was getting tossed around. LOL

That said - speed improves dampening in many cases - assuming you can safely go faster.

Ultimately the common phrase used here on TW when it comes to suspension is "Buy Once Cry Once".

If you don't want to start cutting into the truck the largest tire you'll likely fit is a 33" with a narrow profile (255/85/16 for example). If you can get 2.5-3" of suspension lift up front anyhow. Wider 33" tires like 285 width you'll likely need to do a Cab Mount Chop to prevent rubbing.

I went to 33's (255/85/16) and really like them. However, now I want 35's... which means cutting. Plus more $$$. ;)

Yes because you drop the whole front ifs system. So with the same tires from the diff to the ground no lift would be the same height as a 6 inch drop bracket. On a 2 inch icon lift the diff is up 2 inches from stock height
I almost got OME but I knew I was going 35s and cutting so I got ICONS since I could play with the height from the added bumper and winch weight. OME now has BP51s which are adjustable coilovers like FOX ICON and KING. I was on the fence a little from cost but I waited a little and saved up only to do it one time.

Of all the DB lifts, I'd say BDS is prob the best quality and I know their warranty is great.

Have any of you replaced the coils on the fox 2.5 coil overs? Looking to get a heavier coil or spring because I feel like it rides like shiz in the front. Pls help or send a link for the right coil that’s heavier to replace the current coils on the front or give me some options to help the front not ride as crappy
