So, I was showing a friend my battery and noticed a possible issue. I looked over where the ground cable shoulda been and saw this

    Ground cable cut?

So my question is, is it safe to drive it? Truck starts no issue and all electrical systems work. Only thing I can think of is the guy at autozone cut it when he installed my battery. Kinda ashamed I never noticed it.

    Thanks
    Sam

It would help to get it attached not a major problem I see strange electrical things all the time.

It was not cut it just pulled out of the crimp .

Yeah swing by any local car stereo shop and ask them to make you a 10-12” piece of 4awg with ring terminals on both ends. They might charge you $5. Then just remove and replace the factory wire

As for being safe to drive, yeah it’s fine for short term. The battery is also grounded to the engine or the frame (which are sometimes grounded together as well) so just get it fixed soon and you’ll be fine

Thank you, it is beyond me why a car store employee would disconnect the secondary ground wire.

Thats the body ground. Technically not needed but does make the path of current more efficient for things grounded to the body. That other ground cable goes to the engine. Which is technically connected to the frame and the frame is connected to the body. That extra cable just makes the path shorter for electronics not connected to the engine itself.

Your 100% positive that was still attached when the truck was being worked on.

Anymore who knows if it would be brought to your attention if the ground was disconnected when you had the truck worked on.

Quite possible removing the terminal was enough to loosen things it popped off later.

Would this affect it if I connected a lightbar or emegency vehicle grille lights? I will be installing 2 flashing LED grille lights on my truck. Possibly 6 more as well (2 on back 2 intersection lights on each side), so a total of 8 lights around the truck. Also a white led light in the bumper.

    Thanks
    Sam

Depending just where your grounding your lights it could effect if you get a good ground or not.

No way to tell till you do.

That's a very common problem on Toyota pickups, now Tacoma's.
It's a body ground and it is needed. When you fix it, either make a loop with the new wire or make the wire longer than needed so you have some flex in the cable.
