Looked in the owners manual and I'm trying to figure out what battery would fit. I'm overseas and the exchange only offers a few different types and I'm assuming at least one of them is compatible.

generally it calls for a group 35
    to replace the original

But IMO that is too small and somewhat underpowered.

So I would look for a group 34 instead.
Tho' the battery's terminal placement can be the deciding factor.
1st Gen. Toyotas have a reverse terminal hook up position
then say a GM or Ford.

Do not use side terminals for heavy loads.
If by chance the battery has those.
They tend to be a weaker link then the primary post would.

So an Interstate Battery V346 would be considered a group 34? Sorry I'm clueless about batteries.

Ordering online is probably the easiest thing to do because I know for sure It'll be compatible. I do see the Optima a lot, but it seems to be the priciest one. And frankly, I am going to be selling my Tacoma before I PCS so I'm not sure if I want to go that route.

I'm just hesitant to order online because I want to get this replaced ASAP.

If you plan on selling it, just get one with enough CCA and fits. You should be able to just take some measurements of yours and measure the one in the BX and be good.

majority of lead acid type batteries designed to fit the Tacoma's
terminal hook up will be listed here...

    http://www.interstatebatteries.com/...4rZ1z0tvv6Z1z0tvzmZzihwsq?dsNav=A~Part+Number

call Interstate for further verification of their offerings.

I would likely go with the least expensive battery if ya don't plan on keeping it.
Probably Walmart or Autozone or similar.

    -----------------

I run dual Yellow Top 34's
the terminals are opposite then was the original battery...
But I easily extended the terminals to reach across
    the primary (house) battery.

The house battery's ground wire was also extended.

The original house battery hold down/stay was also altered
so that I needed not use the included Optima plastic spacer.

Measure the external dimensions of your current battery
and be sure the new one is near to that...
Important... if you intend to purchase one that fits as the original did.

In other words... the external size matters too.

homemade extension using copper bar stock...

Note: it was painted after assembly... but not during it's intial hook up
as it requires a clean contact/ground.
