    $210 for a lifetime battery?
I paid $160+ for a 3 year warranty battery. And had to put it in myself.

I would NOT expect any battery to last more than 5 maybe 6 years these days. If you plan to own the truck that long, I’d go with Toyota.

    Same crap everyone else got
That was my understanding. My question, what about a tow package make the larger 27f needed?

Noting. The tow package has a higher output alternator. The battery could care less about that. You might “might” benefit more with the larger battery of you had trailer brakes or are running a lot of add-on electrical components.

But as for the truck itself. The engine is the same. If the smaller battery would not started the truck, Toyota wouldn’t have used it.

Why would you suggest going with a toyota battery? Those are usually expensive and are rated CCA lower than other brands?

Because it’s a lifetime battery. And I plan to own my truck longer than most batteries last. 2x$160 = $320

In the end I’d save money. Plus, I don’t have to take the battery out or put it in.

CCA aren’t worth anything if the battery doesn’t maintain charge or copacity.
CCA is over rated in my opinion. It’s definitely a good selling point.

Manufacturers often put larger batteries and bigger alternators on higher optioned vehicles because they tend to have more electronics to run, in the case of the tow package my guess is they are factoring inusing trailer lights, trailer brakes, and charging a trailer battery amongst other things.

My truck has an Interstate 27F. 710 CCA 890 CA 165 RC

Specs on their website shows the difference for the 24F is mainly in the reserve capacity: 120 minutes.CA is 885. CCA is the same. The dimensions of the 27F are a little larger as well.

I ran a Walmart Everstart Gold (or whatever their best one is) 24F on my last Tacoma, no problems. That being said, I don't tow anything.

One thing worth trying is pulse repair on your current battery with a pulse charger. I thought my battery was dying earlier this year, and it's probably about the same age, but I recharged it and gave pulse repair a go, and it's been maintaining voltage and having no problems since. My issue ended up being with the alternator.

I go as big as can fit.

Group 35 AGM X2 (rebranded Northstar) 740 CCA

Zero electrical drawdown issues and I have an aftermarket stereo and amp. These are stout batteries. Put mine in a while before the pandemic and it’s be behaving like new still.

How’s the front end setting? Lower?

And my cheap plastic battery tray definitely “folded over”.
How do you have the main battery tied down?

no real difference best I can tell. Suspension is OME BP51 and also steel bumper.

the two red batteries are oddysey in the Genesis off road dual kit. The third battery is there because I happened to come across the dual kit and not patient enough to wait on battery to die to install kit.

I put quick connects on the yellow top that goes to my 25’ jumper cables and also connects to a solar kit I have in a pelican case.

why do I have all this? Not sure.

This is what I should have done - the AGM 27F is a heavy bitch lol

Maybe I’m glossing over something but I see battery weight as negligible considering their importance of making your vehicle run properly. It takes what it takes. Shed pounds elsewhere.

Yea you're glossing buddy. An AGM 24 has better CCA & longevity than the OEM 27F lead-acid battery. I'm running a 27F AGM which has even more CCA than a 24 AGM & 27F lead-acid, so I have a bit of unneeded weight there.

I don’t disagree. My prior post laid out what I installed three thanksgivings or so ago. AGM group 35. No issues. Don’t recall it being overly heavy :notsure:

Having all of that weight of the battery on the thin fender sheet metal and then going offroad is what causes issues, primarily cracking the sheet metal of the core support.

That's because the group 35 is smaller than the 24f or 27f.

edit: I just noticed you have a first gen, so maybe 35 is the biggest you can go. I'm not well versed on those trucks.
