Started this morning my car stumbles on cranking then cranks. Figured the battery is going bad.
It's a toyota TrueStart battery. 9/17 is the sticker date.

Called toyota to see about getting any of the 84month warranty prorated on a new battery.
    They said probably not.

Replacement size they said would be a 24f. I though our trucks with the tow package used the 27f?

If they are going to replace it with a 24f, I was just going to go with the walmart everstart maxx 24 f for $119 and be done with it. Apparently walmart doesn't sell the 27f, only the 27 or I'd go with that.

Will the 24f be fine or should I find a 27f battery? Batteries plus has the duracell gold with 3 year warranty for $164 out the door in 27f. 840cca.

I know the 3rd gen tacomas come with a 24f and some of the 2nd gens did also.

Toyota also said they would do their lifetime batter for $210, meaning when it dies I go to get it replaced for free for the life of the vehicle. but still a 24f.

24f would be fine, 27f would be better.

Well that stinks, I have a brand spanking new Toyota battery that I bought for $164 from the dealership it’s brand new never been used and it’s on my trickle charger right now. I would’ve sold it to you for 100 bucks.

$40 better? Never used a duracell car batter before but the specs seem nice and they are made by East Penn Manufacturing co.

That's a question only you can answer based on your financial situation. I can't say how much value that $40 has to you. If your winters get particularly cold it might be worth it but I have to assume most of GA stays pretty warm in which case 24f would be fine. The extra CCA from the 27f might prove useful in the cold.

Would that be the only benefit over the 24f? Would the 27f in theory have better reserve capacity. I just have a couple ditch lights and a winch. The TRD offroad has the rear outlet and tow package also. I do tow a small trailer some also. The winters in GA can get down to the teen some but not like "cold" areas of the US.

And $40 dollars is too pitchers of beer after soccer on Thursday nights so it's not a make or break type thing. I could drink just one instead to make up the funds in 2 weeks haha.

I'd go with the 27f then personally.

You will often find the 27f has less cca than the 24f.....

Been rockin a 24F after my original 27f kicked the bucket, a walmart branded everstart maxx 24f, zero issues, starts the truck just fine in the cold in single digits

Does the 24f fit properly? I'm assuming it does, just want to double check

24F is fine. Going on my 8th or 9th year with Advance Auto branded AGM, which has as much or more starting capacity than OEM 27F.

Yup no issues. like stated the 24F typically has more CCA than the 27F, the 27F just has more capacity (think running the radio without the truck running). Never had an issue with running the radio off batt.

As stated, check / compare the CCA so you'll know what you're getting. When my OEM 27f failed years ago, I couldn't find a replacement locally so I got a 24f. No problems.

Stock battery without the tow package is 24F, with the tow package it's 27F.
