soft tops, happy dogs and Bam Beds seem to go together judging by this thread.

Nice...I said I didn't need these, but man I'm really starting to see the potential value, especially with a top of some sort.

Can anyone tell me the height from the top of the plywood to the top of the C channel on the bed? I have a tonneau cover right now and wondering how much space is actually available under the tonneau with these installed. Will the bins mentioned in this thread fit on top as well without sticking over the bed top? I'm planning get a hard or soft top in the coming year but just rolling with a soft tonneau right now.

    @WhiskeyHole

Ive done quite a bit of that, using the deck with a hard tonneau. Still a great tool. the quickness of conversion with the Bam Beds is a significant upgrade.

    upload_2022-8-23_15-40-58.jpg

here's your dimension, if I understood you correctly

    L-3kuR4qUXPFILm-wVTmaMNFnOgOac5HZIWPAnWe_aa2017309330237576e7b6d25f377ef2f449a77d.jpg

And with the Rubbermaid 10Ga Bam Beds suggests...

what would for sure work are the large 'underbed' storage totes from big box stores. that's what I used previously both under and above the deck.

    hope that helps.

Harbor freight has some knock off pelican cases at a reasonable price as well. Apache is the brand. The 5800 XL case measures 9 inches, so I'm not sure if that would be too tight for under the platform. I'll probably go that approach if it'll work.

i decided to keep using the bed mat underneath so my max is around 8inches. found some under bed storage boxes at Target that have worked great so far. One for cooking gear, one for general camping gear. Not the sturdiest boxes, but I dont plan on removing them very often, even at camp.

Yes perfect. Exactly what I was wondering. My tonneau extrusion is mounted behind and comes up about 1/4” about the channel.

I’m thinking about switching up my camping boxes from a couple large bins with stuff just thrown in to several smaller ones to better organize this family of 4 mess.
I do have a bed mat so I may need to consider what you posted @dirtnsmores

    thanks all.

as you can see in my post with the dog, I’m using the oem bed mat and Rubbermaid 10 ga totes Ben suggests and they’re perfect. A friction fit so that they don’t wanna slide around.

Oh yeah I actually snagged one of those too! Last one at target was only like $14. Using it for my work gear. It fits under, but barely.

    Hey All, one quick update!

I'm now doing bed stiffener mods for most of the bed stiffeners on the market.
I'm not charging any extra for this mod.

If you have bed stiffeners and want your set modified to fit before we ship it out, please email me at support@bambeds.com and shoot me a photo of your bed stiffeners (ruler in the photo is also helpful) and the brand name and I'll verify the fit.

The universal board will look like this (has a 3" inset on the aft lip).
    upload_2022-9-8_15-51-53.jpg
Tailgate extension board has a 3"x3" notch.

    Best,
    Ben

What is the clearance from the bed platform to the bottom of your canopy? I have two big dogs that ride in the back and didn't know if this would make the space too small for them.

One of the major benefits of having BamBeds is not having them in your truck at all (so you can use your truck for truck stuff).
So here's a demo showing just how quickly you can reconfigure.

Sliders (shown in video) Update: CNC'd prototypes are complete and looking clean, box design is complete and the box order has been placed, they should arrive in 7-14 days.
We should be shipping sliders in ~2 weeks!

I just stumbled across this thread and they look amazing! I have a Smartcap arriving next week, so I am exploring new in-bed options. Being 6' 2" and owning a short bed (add that to the long list of "live and learn"), the extended option looks to be the way to go. I also have the Mountain Hatch and was thinking about the extension legs working with it. What if you created an optional support strap that locks into the bottom of the holes on the support legs to keep them from shifting on the smooth surface? Perhaps another way to repurpose some scrap.

I'll also second bamboo issues in dry climates. I have a beautiful bamboo top for my desk. Living in SW Colorado we are dry like @Horger12 mentioned NM is. In 5 years I've had the top replaced twice for splitting along the edges and the top. I still love it, but something to keep in mind.

Will the sliders be able to accommodate bed stiffeners?

I believe that post is for their platform, I'm asking about their new bed slides.

Hmm… glad I tripped over this. Need to do some measuring to make sure my jet sled “drawer” fits underneath but this is compelling. I’ve debated decked but don’t want to be that locked in, and this looks to be significantly higher quality than I could put together myself.
