Anyone ever heard of balancing a drive shaft via the hose clamp method? Would it work for our two piece drive shafts?

Yes I have heard of it. No reason why it won't work.
Why do you think you need the Drive Shaft balanced?

If you are trying to get the vibration out of the 2 piece shaft with center bearing by this method you are wasting your time.
Many posts on this problem and not that simple - sorry. Think I read you could balance each piece alone and then with a new center bearing … but not sure.

As for balancing a one piece driveshaft a driveline shop and some Napas can do it and when I get new u-joints I always have it balanced. My TW shaft came balanced. They tack weld a weigh (s) on. I even had my front shaft done when replacing the u-joints. Many say don't bother but for a few bucks why add another point to introduce vibration.

"our" two part shafts have to be balanced before the center carrier is placed. So I don't see how the "hose clamp" would transfer over to a 2 part shaft. IMHO.

When I did my u joints and center carrier, I marked the shaft for phase before taking it off the truck. Replace all and installed with marks relined. No muss no fuss.

Yeah, I was skeptical too. I had my frame replaced and 4-6 weeks later I started getting vibes. Almost as if the back end wheel(s) are 'hopping'. Replaced the carrier bearing but that doesn't seem to have made much difference. And the frustrating part is the vibes are not consistent. Some days it seems to be more of a low frequency growl while others you can feel the 'hopping' vibration in the seat. The vibes occur 50+ mph so that lead me to believe it is possibly a balance issue since replacing the carrier bearing didn't help. Tires are new and balanced (twice), new carrier bearing and U joints are new. I noticed the weights on my drive shaft and it didn't look like any were missing. I am puzzled.

@TacomaWilly I bought an 06 DC 5' 2WD Prerunner from someone who had the frame replaced and ended up getting rid of it due to vibrations after the new frame. Have you made any progress on this? I had my carrier bearing and u joints all replaced but the shop didn't mark and put it back together "in phase", they tried the 2nd of 2 position now and it's still vibrating like crazy. Not sure if any of that will end up even being the problem, let me know where you are at, thanks!
