I just got my Bakflip MX4 installed a week ago or so and finally had some rain to see how much water got in. I was surprised. I expected some to leak in around the front and rear of the bed because I haven't done anything extra to seal those areas but did not expect to see so much at the seams. Is this normal leakage for the MX4? Anything others have done to improve leaks at the seams?

My G2 leaks the same way. I think it comes under the bedrail cap versus under the rail for the tonneau.

I get a little on the sides with my MX4. More at the back but I think that’s due to the large gaps at the tailgate.

Mine doesn't leak nearly that much. Shoot me some pics from the top side where the joints in the cover meet the box.

My G2 leaks some in the corners but not from the seams, and not a huge amount. More by the tailgate than in the front. Nothing like yours.

It does look excessive, they all leak some, but perhaps if you had lots of wind driven rain that might explain it.

minor, TRD skid plate, front recovery points, Regken mud flaps, rear diff breather, AC drain pipe extended. Upgraded sound with active sub woofer, tonneau cover, CB radio.
Same picture on mine. Of course, it's can't be 100% water tight. I'm happy, with bed mat my stuff inside still dry.

Sent you a PM with more pictures. It was raining pretty hard for short bursts that day. Could just be a fluke time but still more water than I expected down the sides. It was getting on top of my bed mat more than I wanted.

Just checked mine and it does not leak there, only from the tailgate. Why don't you try taking it off and re-install it.

Mine always leaked that bad and worse before I got rid of it. With the bed mat my stuff did stay mostly dry, but it would get really humid in there after a heavy summer rainstorm and the sun would come back out.

I’m having the same issues and Bak has offered to replace the top but not the rails and hardware. It looks like water enters under the rails where they sit on top of the bed. I had an under cover on my other truck and never had an issue with water. The Bakflip mx4 is such a disappointment for the money.

Seal under the bed rail caps with silicone.

This is my plan I just never got around to it.. plan on laying in the bed and see where light gets in.

If you look where the water is getting in you will see on the top of the bed rails there are various indentations on the top of the bedrail caps that terminate inside the bed too. If that’s where it is leaking you need more pressure to allow the seal mechanism to fill those voids, or a dab of black silicon. I got my T5 to seal pretty well before getting a cap instead.

The only leaking on my G2 (basically the same as the MX4) is at/near the tailgate. Rest of it is pretty dry.

2022 Tacoma Bak MX4 slight leaks at folding seams at side rails, trying to figure out solution. Rear tailgate leaked, went to Home Depot and purchased rubber weather stripping to simply attach on backside of tailgate and NO LEAK. Also used clear kitchen/bathtub silicone9CC69FD0-DD53-41FA-A374-3CAE31175188.jpg front of bed at cab, 100% no water
