Ok so I currently have a G2 bedcover that has seen better days. It's 7 years old and needs to be replaced soon. I'm considering the MX4, G2, or the Revolver X4. Can anyone give any insights?

I like the idea of the revolver but worry about the metal tabs sticking out at the end of the bed. Seems like I'd get something caught on it or wreck them when loading or unloading something. Anyone have experience?

    THanks!!

Any help on bed cover selection?

I’m looking seriously at the revolver X4, but don’t see many owner reviews: good or bad.

I like the revolver too. But what I am worried about is if you look in the pictures there are clips that stick out. I would bend or bust those in 2 seconds.

I can't figure out what the differences are between the G2 and the MX4, just looks like the MX4 has more segments and is about $100 more. But they both fold all the way up with struts, exposing the full bed. Personally I would choose one of those over the Revolver because the Revolver can never expose the full bed unless you remove it. Also, just my personal take, it has more moving parts which means more possibility of failure. I have seen a lot of members here say good things about the MX4, I considered it too but ended up going with a one-piece Undercover for a whole slew of reasons that are probably unique to me.

The difference I see when the cover is completely open; the MX folds cover the back glass, the roll on the X4 doesn’t.

I recently installed the revolver x4 and like it. The only gripe a have about it was that it came with a ton of aluminum shavings which got under some of the rubber gasket adhesive and needed to be cleaned to allow the gaskets to lay flat. Otherwise i really like the flush mount look and function of the cover. I added the DIY tailgate automatic lock and am really loving the combo.JPEG image-16511090C718-1.jpg

Just a heads up, regardless of what you end up buying, do a little research on your seller. A number of online retailers (that give great reviews to themselves) are just marketers of the covers they sell (they don't actually warehouse or stock anything) and their after sales service can be a nightmare if you require it. If your cover arrives undamaged, all parts included and fits, you're golden. If you have an issue, you could end up S.O.L

How are the 2 tabs at the end of the bed? Is it likely you catch something on them and bend or break them?

I dont have any fear of catching anything on them. They are rounded and seem to be pretty sturdy.

Hello, I just installed th BAK Tevolver X4 on my 2016 Tacoma Accesscab. Installation was straightforward per the general instructions and the 2016 Tacoma specific inserts. The temperature in my garage is high 40s, so the flex cover is pretty stiff to work with. Mine is the 6’ bed and has 5 “S” clips per side, the drop in Toyota bedliner inside plastic flange for the front clips had to be trimmed ~1/16” the width of the clip to allow the attach bolt to reach the stock threads in the bed. Other than that it is an easy install...even for a 70 year old.

I pulled the trigger and purchased the bakflip mx4 from Amazon. I am worried about the clips of the revolver. I'm sure they are fine but my previous bakflip has been great and has lasted 7 years. Excited for the new one!!!!
