I've been scoping out the BD Squadron Sport vs Squadron Pros, I like the look, and the reviews online rave about the light intensity, quality and durability.

I originally was thinking about the Pros with 4095 lumens, versus the Sport's 3162 lumens - because more is better right? Except the Pros are almost twice the cost of the Sports.

I searched online but have not found ANY good comparisons between the Sports and Pros - except one YouTube video with two guys on motorcycles riding on a gravel road at night, not the best quality comparison, but their conclusion was they were about the same?

Anyone hear know of a good video or review comparing the two? Or have real life experience with the two lights?

(maybe the BD folks are lurking and can shed some light on this issue [pun not intentional, LOL])

    Thanks!

There is a Baja Designs forum. Scroll down to the Official Vendors selections on the left side of the home page.

If you look at the detailed specs of each I see two differences besides output. The Pro use Cree LED's and the sports do not, Pro's have a hard anodized and powder coated housing the sports are just powder coated. I have Pro's and have been very happy with them but I have not experienced Sports.

For ditch lights, I've been happy with my Sports, but for the driving lights, my Sports have been a bit of a let down. They shoot about same distance as my OEM high beams, but fill in a little better. Pros definitely shoot further than the Sports. My buddy has slowly replaced all his sports with pros or LPs and you can really tell the difference. I plan to replace my Sport driving lights when I get the chance, and will move the Sports over to my SxS. For BD lights, it's not just about the lumens, but how well their lenses use the available light. I am 100% sold on their "Science of Lighting". I'm sure there are others out there than are just as good, or at least very comparable, but I really do respect the company and would recommend. They also stand by their warranty, which I've luckily never had to use, but seen it used to great success, always hearing good things about their customer service.

@Baja Designs might even chime in to talk about any specific questions you might have.

i want to say it was last year when the change was made. I have a set of new sports here and they are all powdercoated. I do miss the anodization, but they had a lot of fading issues.
