Has anyone found blackout overlays for the exterior badges that actually have the voids/holes in the A cutout? I’ve looked through tons of black overlays for the Tacoma badges but they all have plastic filled holes in the A, and was hoping there was something that looked more OEM with the letters correctly cut out.

I know I could debadge the truck and put on black badges, but was trying to avoid that if possible.

If you want the holes you’ll need to debadge and buy black emblems, not the overlays.

I looked for a while and after cheap ones on eBay and Amazon I just wasn't happy with the slight edge of chrome showing. The OEM ones from Toyota were spot on perfect, but still no open holes on the A, which now I'm happy they don't have any. Easy to install, look great and clean nice.

I actually bought some touch up paint in Army Green, and painted the "void" areas. Came out pretty good. No pics, but unless you really look, it looks like it's open to the actual body.

I had this same thought, thought Bondo but the emboss is too deep. Was then thinking buy a cheap set of the letters, sand them down to the same height and then fill in from there.

Same. Going to take off all the chrome badging and leave it clean. Did you take off a TRD OR or Sport sticker on the back end as well? I'm thinking about removing that too.

I'd like to do this on my second gen (2011 Prerunner Dbl cab long bed). Interested to learn the process for removal and clean up.

I re-badged with new black emblems and removed the box stickers…truck was new and did it on a hot day. Box decals peeled right off with hardly a trace. Emblems I did in same hot day with some fishing line. These ones left a bit of glue. Bought the black badges off Amazon.
I hated the silver box decals…might replace in future with a matte black ones…maybe

3M stripper wheel. That and a small amount of denatured alcohol. Done deal in 1/10th the time. Will not harm the finished surface.

+1 for debadging. I'd never done it before and all three took me about an hour using my wife's hair dryer, some nylon thread, and Goo Gone.

I’ve always de-badged my vehicles, I like the clean look.

Unfortunately my truck was repainted by the previous owner and whoever did it didn’t bother to remove the badges first so, if I remove them it shows the old paint and an impression of where the badge was.
I just Plasti-dipped them for now.

Nothing cheap about filling in the Tacoma on the tailgate. I debadged my truck, but will be putting black reflective vinyl in the tailgate (black truck). Should be hard to notice during the day while making it safer if I'm stopped on a road at night for some reason.

I probably lost 100 HP by pulling the TRD OR stickers and V6 badge off. I also cannot drive off road any longer as my truck does not say 4x4.

Mine had the blacked out badges when I bought it. Didn't like them. You could tell they were plastic overlays. I de-badged the truck.

    Guys who debadged...
Is there visable fading made noticable where the badges were? If so, how old is your truck?

None for me, but mine was new. After I cleaned the sticky residue, I added a couple of coats of wax.
You would never be able to tell the badges were there.
