I got a defective can of plasti-dip and only realized it about half way through my emblems. Such a pain in the ass to get off between the letters. Probably going to just take the emblems off. Just a heads up. If the first coat looks like dog shit the rest will look like dog shit hahaha

Did you shake it up good and make sure the can was warm?

edit: and make sure you turn the can upside down and spray it out so it doesn't build up on the nozzle.

I've noticed that some cans have crappy spray nozzles and some have good ones.

The bad ones like to spit the throw globs of it out a lot.

That could have been the problem as well.

Yes, I shook it like crazy thinking that was the problem but I'm not sure if i kept it warm enough. I'll be sure to check into that.

Yeah it was super thick coming out and would even pause a little and continue to spit it out. Luckily I realized that it wasn't going to come out the way I wanted it to relatively early.

Yeah, if you shook the can up well then I'm willing to bet it was one of the crappy nozzles... Haha

I've never had one where the nozzle has been messed up, but that could be a reason too. Mine always came out in globs when I tried using it when the can was cold. Once you heat it up to like room temp. and clean out the nozzle, it worked like normal again.

    I haven't seen a can of Plasti-Dip that I would consider using.

Like others have said... If you got a bad can if you try it again be sure to turn it upside-down and spray until it becomes clear to clear the nozzle between coats. I wouldn't remove the emblems personally because that's just one more step that is really unneeded. I used 10 light coats on mine with a 20 min wait period between coats. Took all day but they came out perfect.

Some of this Some of that
Did you let the stuff dry long enough? I usually run the can under hot water to heat it up and let the stuff dry for a while, otherwise it can be a bitch to get off

A cold can of most any paint will give you trouble too.

Placing a spraycan (even a room temperature one) in a pail of hot water for a while will make the paint flow so much easier.

You can always go the route I did and just purchase the plasti-dip in the can that you mix with a one to one solution of Xylene. Both can be purchased at Home Depot. They sell the sprayer bottles as well and they tend to do a great job! Those run about $8 for the sprayer...

Plasti-dip doesn't spray on or cure well in cold weather. Mainly, when the can it's self is cold, it gets too thick. That's why I'm waiting till a warm day to do all my emblems.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say since you live in Seattle, WA, and are posting in January, it's prolly pretty darn cold up there.

Let the can sit in a pot of hot tap water for 5 or so minutes so it can warm up, then try spraying it on. You'll have much better results. :)

I put my cans of plasti dip in front of a small heater to warm them up and keep them warm in between coats.

Shake the can for a good minute. Put it in warm to hot water for a few minutes. It seems like that the can was cold. It also could be a shit nozzles. The nozzles that come with the cans are not very good and they are very thin when they come out. Using a stock nozzle for the first few coats is fine. But it's once you're going to be going further up in coats you should be doing them thicker and using stock nozzles take forever. I use nozzles from DYC(Dip Your Car). Dipping in colder tempatures is hard for the dip to cure to the product. It has to be at least room tempature. I found anything above 15C is fine. But if it's below that, raining, snowing etc. It's really hard to do a dip project, especially outdoors.
